They really have stopped bothering about looking at all plausible, let alone showing a concern for people. It really looks like a set-up for a deliberate release where it would do the most damage.
Last year they wanted to move the Plum Island research facility right smack in the middle of big cattle producers in Kansas. Plum Island is responsible for the release of West Nile and Lyme Disease.

This is unacceptable! Just recently Gordon Brown was quoted as saying more council housing needs to be built and then allows this proposal to be made?? Seems hypocritical to me. Signed and forwarded Janet.

Pity that I can not sign. The animals all over this planet is my concern. Their welfare is important to me, no matter what country.

i will support this petition. i am sick and tired of the ongoing 'tests' on animals which never seem to come up with any cures. have you ever heard of any ? i certainly havent and yet this is their defence for animal experimentation. i have had cancer , my son has had cancer, my father died through cancer, and various dear friends have died too. Would i prefer animals to be tortured to find a cure?. no. because there are other ways.

no can sign--we stopped being British Citizens in 1867, then rudely made it clear in 1984. We still have dear Mum on the currency & stamps however....
Thank you anyway, dear Jackie. xo

If any of your care2 friends are in the UK, you can ask them to sign on your behalf.

I am happy that there is a an interest in working on viruses, both my children were ill with viruses as very young children (different viruses at different times) and could have died from them. It won't be like having a hot virus centre (I hope) but it shouldn't be in the middle of a council estate, it should be away from residential areas. Most definitely not any animal testing in any way at any time!

I temped at a research facility that was working on Hepatitis C and their work was theoretical & on cell cultures, not an animal in sight (otherwise I wouldn't have been there). It can be done.
