But in 2006, fully 20% of the entire U.S. corn harvest went into ethanol distilleries, creating an automatic squeeze on exports, current and near future, and domestic uses as well (

Biodiesel Trade-offs with Food:
This crisis is not the result of a natural disaster or mistake.
A deliberate, top-down drive has been conducted by select
financial circles—under both “right and left” guises—to push
so-called renewable, alternative fuels, with intent to benefit
from the financial bubble, to undermine national food security,
and take advantage of the chaos. “Energy security” is the
slogan, and the figurehead is R. James Woolsey, former CIA
director. The networks include Chevron, British Petroleum,
Archer Daniels Midland, Cargill, Morgan Stanley, and a host
of other major transnationals. Among the leading figures are
George Shultz and Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as Al
Gore.
“Food shock”—as a policy—cannot be separated from
the panicked manipulations of the Anglo-Dutch financial
groupings that are steering a course for global banking and
food control, through extreme deregulation and intervention.

Cargill is in this, I went over quite abit of it, can't do it all, it also downloaded to my computer without my persmision the first one which I don't like. There is more to say on this, much is in Phrabupada's book, the Higher Tasste, A Guid eot Vegetarian Cooking and a Karma free diet regarding the hidden cost of MEAT, chapter 2. Althou printed several decades past it still holds true, and I can't copy it or type it out here. Regardless, teh powers at be are not ethical as this study shows. As for alternative power, I would still say better than oil, coal, uranium frm the earth which is depeleted and we need to go beyond nucluear, its' not the answer either, and higher life forms what people cal UFO's know it, we are sooo far behind, with the exception possibvly of trhe NWO, it is said they have the means to alternative power and have since Telsa. I hope something and someone breaks soon or makes contact and has enough faith to pass it on, and that the world won't use it to destroy itself like atlantis did and we are on verge of repeatedly, thank you Scott.

..I'm sure Patricia is a very nice person,.. perhaps just a "little" misguided.

This is why we need to use CO2 free energy. When a farmer can harvest using energy that does produce more CO2 than what the field does in a day, the cost of the food drops. Pull the OIL IV out your arms everyone.

This is an important issue, but the article Scott linked to is from November 10, 2006, and he knows that because he highlighted "2006" for the story description when posting it. It is NOT news.

I'm sure that Scott is a very nice person...perhaps just a "little" misguided, in that if there should be important new information about this issue today, such as new legislation being introduced, a new petition to sign, a new article or book published, a new activism campaign that people might want to support, it probably won't make the front page in U.S. Politics & Gov't because Scott insists on posting old news and so many people insist on noting his posts, apparently being more interested in loyalty to Scott or to old news than in allowing Care2 activists to be able to access new and important information.

News = new information.

Not noted. Flagged as "old news/not news."

It was on NBC news recently that Ethanol Production may actually be making global warming worse because native pants are uprooted and using biofuels gives off more CO2 than gasoline!!

Recently on NBC News there were several experts saying that production and use of biofuels and esp ethanol is probably making global warming worse tha using gasoline to say nothing of food prices!!!

I know I'll never be forgiven for this, and my sincerest apologies to Berry, but I can't help myself -- I'm very concerned about the way that bio-foolery is uprooting native pants.

This has GOT to stop! Where's the petition? :)
