Jan, I can only think of one suitable punishment, and it involves each culprit being dangled like a piņata, from the jaws of one of their fighters, by an extremely tender part of their anatomies, for the other dogs to do to them what they were taught to do to other dogs.

But that's not very nice, now, is it?

I figure it this way: How much greater is a man than dog, in the minds of these brutes? Since they're so superior, they can certainly take what they dished out. It's only a dog, for crying out loud, right?

Thankyou Jennaveve for postig this great victory!!!!! Now maybe other places will step up the to end dog fighting and maybe more people will realize that most of the time it is the blooody owner that turn their dogs in visious animals like pitbulls. There are responsible people out there that own pitbulls that are loving dogs and the few that turn for no reason even in the greatest of homes . But so much stigma has been put on these dogs because of the actions of those who get them to turn them nasty or for status and end up mistreating the animal- end result labelling all pitters nasty- well that is crap- finally justice fo rthe dogs !!!!

It's nice to see that America is cracking down hard on both the puppy mill industry and the dog fighting rings! Perhaps in time BSL will be a thing of the past. Great job on your first news post! Thanks for sharing, Jen.

Good news indeed this is a despicably cruel way to treat dogs.I hope the people who are involved get the message and also get their well deserved punishment.

I'm so glad to hear the states in the U.S. are finally starting to crackdown on the dogfighting in their states and they are arresting people for it. I've tried to a long time to get law enforcement interested in our state in training their law enforcement officers to go undercover and find the dogfighting rings. It seems like in Pennsylvania no one is interested in stopping the dog fighting and I know it takes place everywhere in the state!
So glad to hear some states are taking an interest in stopping the dog fighting--I wish our state would do that!

I totally agree animals are only cruel if owners train them to be that way.

True, patricia! With a one word command, my dad could transform our 90 lb German Shepherd from a snarling menace with jaws wide open and ready to attack ... into a dog wanting to play like a puppy!

I hope they get the book thrown at them. I will never understand this dog fighting thing. It is ridiculous. So happy arrests were made in this case! If its money you need so bad, go throw yourself in a boxing ring!
