This doesn't surprise me at all. it's a JOKE & it's WRONG. I went to a Prepaid cell due to all the Outrageous fees I was being charged.

AT&T is a JOKE & a SCAM on both Cell & Residential lines.

Talking about AT&T BRUNS MY A**.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

it's not just the cell phones. AT &T charged me for "calls" dsl is supposed to cover. They racked up over a $1000 in a month from the computer visiting sites all over. When I called and talked to the woman she said she I have to pay it. I said do you have computer, yes she said I said okay besides the dsl bill do you pay for any other additives on your bill? She said she didn't but knew of people who did!
Afer her I went to the supervisor, then another and finally after a very nasty letter got the "sheriff" who in a couple of days hanled the whole thing. They are thieves and they know it!

My prepaid mobile demands use every thirty days which I do regularly, last time I used the thing to check my credit balance the message came up unable to make outgoing calls. I phoned the provider and they said my account had been hybernated due to low usage! Then they reactivated it! Another scam they did was charging for aborted calls for example I received a charge for an attempted call to my own landline which they claimed had answered the call! They only backed down and refunded the call charge when I threatened to obtain records from the landline supplier of incoming calls answered and chargeable! Sadly they are so obsessed with making vast profits they forget why they make them and what customers are!

Thanks for the article. I'll be leaving T-Mobile for CREDO.

For anyone thinking about switching-- Please check out CREDO-- they're actually doing some good in the world.

And why do they charge extra for texting? That should be included in the minutes already paid for.

Ready to dump the cell phone? There are alternatives such as wifi, sms, satelite.

and why is it legal for them to charge early termination fees. it's not like breaking a lease on a property rental.

Noted.Catherine .. unless they have changed a lot .. there is a penalty provision for early withdrawal/ending. What you sign when you set up your service is a contract.

I've switched to prepaid service too. I'm sick and tired of being a whore for big business pimps!!! My husband and I went from $125.00 a month to $40.00. I'm not a phone addict and texting is stupid when you can hit a button and talk.

This is why I use TracFone. And they haven't even delved into the "minor" phone companies like the Only one available where I now live, FRONTIER phone makes all the rest look GREAT! I used AT&T where we lived for 30 yrs. - only had 1 instance of a Problem & it took 3 hrs to resolve, but it Was Resolved - then moved here & get crappy Frontier service, Lying Reps., & NO cell service what-so-ever, and we have to pay 3x's the price for Satellite Internet instead of a decent DSL like we had with AT&T. There is NO choice in Rural America, you get whatever crappy company of bottom feeders picks up the location.. :(

All the telephone companies are crooks but that is American way of business allowed by your elected officials and government

I am thinking about going to a prepaid phone because I have been getting ridiculous charges! I am tired of them!

This is why I use NET10 prepaid phones! They actually pride themselves on doing away with all the 'evil' associated with cell phone contracts. No hidden charges, no surprise bills, no roaming charges, no ETFs. Just good cell phone service at an affordable rate. Why use anything else?

YEP
! WE HAVE AT&T AND WE ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS HAVE ADDED SHIT TO OUR BILL THAT WE DID NOT ORDER! THEY WILL FIND SMALL THINGS TO CHARGE YOU WITH AND THEYRE OFTEN HIDDEN IN THE BILL. ANTHEY HIDE IT EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU GO TO PAPERLESS BILIILING! WE PAY 400 DOLLARS A MONTH! WTF?! YES, THATS HOW OUTRAGEOUS IT IS, THEY ADD THINGS TO YOUR BILL I USUALLY HAVE TO CALL AND ASK THEM TO TAKE OFF THEIR ADDINGS TO MY BILL EVERY SINGLE MONTH!
