Europe is broke and needs to raise taxes. Scaring people about their weight by using very low weight standards then taxing food makes it look like it is for the public's own good instead of one more ripoff! People are so easily manipulated!

Perhaps these stats will help people question the antiobesity propaganda. Most European countries have lower health costs per person and better longevity. In the US we are told fatness is responsible for all our health ills and health care costs. How can this be that a continent where half the pop is "overweight" is so much better off. Lets pull the wool from our eyes!

"Fat can be beautiful! Intolerance is ALWAYS ugly!"

I can't believe it--Europeans overweight? I thought it was only Americans who had that problem. :)

I can believe their statistics, I live in the UK and all my friends (including my partner) are "overweight" but that does not stop them living healthy happy lives, they need to give this propaganda a rest. I've known lots of healthy fat people, just as I've know very ill thin people, people's weight is not the unique deciding factor of anything.

Why should Americans be the only nation of obese people? People need to stop eating everything they can get their hands on and get up off their collective asses and do.....anything. This has become a way of life for most of the world's population and it must change or else the quality of life of these people will be negatively affected (not to mention the cost of their medical care).
