This is scary. Guess it is better than tankers prowling through the Arctic. But we have a moron who bombs oil pipelines far south of this as a protest. I just wonder what will happen if that idiot bombs a pipeline in the far North. About the only pristine territory on the planet is at our poles and it will not take long before we destroy that too.

Roger.....Everything man has done since the Industrial Revolution has disturbed the earth 100%
Think of how America looked prior to 1492 before the white man landed. The Native American
indian had lived here for centuries & "never" destroyed a thing!!!!!
Of course the blessing of the times prior to the white man's landing was the indians were
not as deviously intelligent as the white man. The indians lived according to nature & abidded
by the laws of nature.

Man's overpopulation has so changed the earth over the past several hundred years she, Mother
Earth is hardly the same as she was. I affect Mother Earth has grown old & weary of all our greed
to move mountains for the love of the almighty $$$$$$$$.

So......With every shovel of dirt moved from here to there enough times will change Mother Earth
all the more until man compleletely vanishes.

As long as most of our Congress people have large investments in oil they will support NO substantial investment in altenative energy. It's up to US to convince them otherwise. The only way we can do that is through MASSIVE protest. Do we have the committment?

It is beyond comprehension that we don't stop chasing oil and use these funds for green alternatives and green jobs. But big oil has got us all by the balls.

I have never been in favour of this pipeline and never will be.
I realize that our Native's need sustainable work, but this could back fire on them with pollution, leaking pipes destroying water sources and who knows what else. We must come up with ideas for them!

This is more proof of a Conservative government owned and operated by big oil. This shows no consideration for the native people living around the pipeline only the Canadian government offer to buy in suffer later. Is there an opposition party? Sure does not look like it more bribes from the oil companies rather than tap into Canada's near unlimited alternative energy, stick with the dirty gooey sludge and steady demise of our planet.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Act was gutted in the 2010 budget. The senate just killed the Climate Change Accountability Act.
1- There is no known method of cleaning up an oil spill in Arctic waters
2- "Soot-stained snow and ice absorb more of the sun's heat, reducing the "albedo" effect that normally allows light-coloured surfaces to reflect solar energy and keep their cool."
3- Melting Arctic permafrost releases methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide
I am very concerned with the environmental impact of this project.

Noted & thanks Cal (I think). What about stopping the shipping of oil along the Canadian & other coastlines in the Pacific Northwest. There is legislation going on that is still in process of that decision, or is that just a bit of "fluff", to keep we "environmentalists" off their backs until it is too late to have any impact. There must be some ( behind the public eye ) handshaking going on that connect the pipeline with the shipping of "product".

Is Canada any different about a resource they can sell than those countries who sell rainforests, fishing, minerals, animals, and soon, clean water? Not to mention selling out the ecological support each of those resources is disturbed & destroyed to get.

We are simply Too Many Consumers for Finite resources around the entire world.

Yep, yep more Big Oil revenues powering our Conservative government; not to say that the other parties wouldn't do the same if they were in power though. Back in 1989 everything was tied to real estate. That turned out well. Today it's petro dollars. I was just reading that this new strain of TB is showing up in their communities. I think I read the ratio is 332 per thirty thousand and that they have not addressed any treatment plan. It also said that when third world immigrants are removed the rate of infection drops to almost zero. Guess who are building mosques up there? Who provides cheap labor? It's certainly not the Inuit. Is it a way to reduce the presence and power of the local indigenous population who might pose an environmental protest problem for the Government and their Oil cronies in developing the Arctic? It is after all the IMF way isn't it?
I am solidly against this. I think it is a disaster waiting to happen. They've killed the Gulf in the south; maybe if they kill the Arctic in the north, they can reduce our population a little bit more to what they consider an acceptable level; less people to complain. Then like BP they can sail away into the sunset with their ill gotten gains. I have said it before and I will keep saying it. Oil is not the way to go. Certainly petroleum and its products will be with us to some degree for the next ten years. However, if we start building solar and waste conversion facilities; develop replaceable forms of products now represented by petroleum; we can rid our world of our Big Oil needs within fifteen years. Think of what the world would be like without trucks and cars that run on fossil fuels. We need to begin NOW!

Here is how the small brained big shots think
& it has been going on for a hundred years or more:

Every sixty seconds, thirty acres
of rain forest are destroyed in order
to raise beef for fast food restaurants that
sell it to people, giving them strokes and
heart attacks, which raise medical costs and
insurance rates, providing insurance companies
with more money to invest in large corporations
that branch out further into the Third World
so they can destroy more rain forests."

If we go full speed ahead on wind and solar, there will be little demand for the gas. It will not then be profitable and they will stop.

I, for one, in spite of being 25% Mohawk, am damn sick of these First Nations types (Native Americans to you in the USA) who are always yapping about their traditions.

I suppose this pipeline is another time-honoured tradition like hunting whales and polar bears from speedboats with GPS.

Charlene Rush (2)

OMG, I hope this doesn't happen. If it does, which is what it appears, how many native people will be displaced, again?

We need to go to clean energy & stop this oil business as only the top people win in this game & more destruction all the way from the Arctic to the South! Animal habitats are destroyed, peoples lives displaced all for the name of greed! We MUST convert to clean energy like wind, solar & geothermal! It will benefit all mankind & safe our planet. We do not need to line the elite's pocket & big corp with more riches! This is totally out of control & destroying our resources & Mother earth & our precious wildlife!

"which also included 264 conditions that must be met by the developers" - Would like to know what these conditions are and how they will be enforced.
"The earliest Imperial Oil will issue an investment decision on the line will be 2013, Rolheiser said" - Well we can still make a difference if we keep the pressure up but lets not be trusting the 2013 date.
Another long shot ally is the "Absent but in discussions are the DehCho which hold 40 per cent of the lands the pipeline will go through in southwest NWT, and the only one of the group to yet resolve its land claims with the feds." If they say NO?
Our final hope is that gas prices stay low enough as to make the project unprofitable.

Make a difference, plant a tree.

Yet another sight for an INEVITABLE, environmental disaster. This isn't a matter of IF, but rather WHEN...There are those who are intent upon getting as much money as they can with no regard for the destruction they will cause. Hope their grandkids will enjoy their inherited money while sitting on top of a pile of rubble, looking at polluted waters with no animals around...what a life...and not much to spend their money on...other than masks to filter out the choking pollution.

"Sustainable Future” and Dated Energy like oil are two horses pulling in opposite directions.

The problem worldwide is that governments are run by a bunch of old men from the industrial era who never acquired to think outside the box. Their thinking and actions continue to kill the planet long after they are six foot under.

Sadly the multitudes have taken the bait! And The LIES are swallowed, hook, line and sinker ;-(

Someone had written: "When I talk about people buying or being sold 'absolute junk' I'm not only talking about the material but also about the ideological. We are 'sold' on consumerism, the wars (Iraq, Afghan), elections (the presidency), all manner of things. Unfortunately, so few people see that just because these ideas are on sale, that they don't actually have to buy them!"

Sadly, the multitudes have bought The LIES ;-(

The multitudes have taken the bait which is "ease of life", so-called, and The LIES were swallowed(believed),

and sinker(science/technology/progress) ;-(

This place they call the u.s. of a. is the "bait"master and they catch their "fish" in every nation of this world ;-( Yet in england, france, germany, japan, etc, in all nations of this wicked world there are those who have become disciples of the "bait"master and they also have found other "waters" in which to catch their "fish" ;-(

And so it is that today there are multitudes in every nation under the sun that have taken the bait(ease of life), and swallowed(believed in) the hook(money), the line(politics/religion/education) and the sinker(science/technology/progress) ;-(

Tempted, hooked, reeled in, and held captive as they but serve "time" in the prison that is this wicked world ;-(

Simply, they could not withstand the media blitz(krieg), or their own desires, and their "imag"ination got the best of them ;-(

Some two thousand years past The Truth bore witness to the fact that, "the WHOLE(not just a portion) world is under the control of the evil one"! (1John5:19) Yet, the "fish" continue to seek out that "good" place in the world, when in Truth the world today is but the product of mankind's "imag"ination, a dry and thirsty land of mirages, nothing but shadows, vapors and smoke ;-(

And in this wicked world, "image"s abound and are worshipped ;-(

So why receive that which is of mankind's "imag"ination?

Even when such is supposedly "free" there will always be a price to pay, for mankind's "imag"ination is destroying the earth(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Life, Truth, Love, Peace, Grace, Faith, All that is Truly Good);-(

Consider the time when there were no radio's, no tv's, no movies, no newspapers, a time when there was no way yet "imag"ined and then manufactured, that would allow someone to publish or display the vain "imag"inations of mankind to the "masses". Sadly those who rule in this wicked world, and who control the "media", consider the "masses" to be but the M in E=MC(squared);-(

And yet today, here i am publishing(sharing) that which i believe to be from the heart, The Spirit within, not the vain "imag"inations of my fleshly mind, for i believe that which i share is of The ONE whose Voice i have heard and whose Power i have experienced in The Miracle that is receiving "the love of The Truth", and The Miracle that is New Life, Real Life, and The Miracle of healing more than once, and The Miracle of deliverance that sets me free, free from the "I" in me!

i believe that which i share is of The ONE who revealed the lies that are of this world, it's 'god', and it's systems of religion, as i received evermore "a love of The Truth". HE is The ONE WHOM i know and believe is the Giver of Life, The ONE and Only True Living G-D and Father(Creator) of ALL!

Father Help! and HE does.......

In times past, when i would wonder why things were as they were, i questioned?

Do you feel as i feel?
Do you wonder just what's real?

D you see the little child?
Do you see them running wild?

i see their doubts and i see their fears,
i see their hurts and i see their tears.

Now could be that's what i look to see,
Yet what i see is real to me.

Now am i alone to care and cry?
Or must i close these eyes and surely die?

Sadly, the children, or those who once were called children, today are referred to as "kids" ;-(

Sadder yet, the reference is true ;-(

Baby goats abound because their 'parents' feed them all sorts of "trash", and so it is that as they grow, they "eat" any and all things, no matter the dis-eases(no-peace) that causes them to be pill pushers, peer pleasers, or worse yet enslaved by the media ;-(

"Where have all the children gone? long time pa-as-sing" ;-(

Progress? As promised things are getting progressively worse and worse!

For "evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived".......

Yet Hope IS Alive!

For Miracles do happen!

Hope is there would be those who would take heed unto The Call of Our Father(Creator) to "Come Out of her, MY people" for they will "Come Out" of this wicked world(babylon) and it's systems of religion, and they will no longer have their portion with those who are destroying the earth(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Truth, Life, Love, Peace, Hope, Grace, Faith, Mercy,,,, All that is Truly Good) ;-(

And for those who have embraced "mother earth" and the oneness that is the natural Creation?

Hope is they would also experience and embrace that Spiritual ONEness that is a common union with their Brother, The Messiah, and Their Father, The ONE and Only True Living G-D(Great Spirit), HE WHO is Creator(Father) of ALL!

Family! indeed and Truth.......

A Simple and Spiritual Life.......

Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this wicked world and it's systems of religion, for "the WHOLE world(not just a portion) is under the control of the evil one"(1John5:19) indeed and Truth.......

Truth IS, a lie is not.......

Abide in The Truth.......

Thanks for posting. Wishful thinking is that the Canadian Government will start to test and use HEMP OIL and start to get away from underground energy.
Then they can start to show the USA 1 of the plants 5000 uses
