The elite list of endangered species, you need a VIP pass and only one left of the species to be added to the list or what?

This guy looks just like the horned lizard we used to see in Texas, not any more. Can't find one even the most remote areas - I wonder if this is a quid-pro-quo?

I try to imagine how this decision was taken - someone in a too small office, lots of papers around, already in a bad mood, saw a picture of the animal and thought, it looks like my mother in law so no protection????

I consider that a loss for humanity. We could have saved, preserved this animal and now...
In a couple of years it could be too late to save this species.
