Her outfit was a symbolic green, and a rare smile was planted firmly on her face -- Queen Elizabeth II made all the right gestures at the beginning of her state visit to Ireland. But a fear of violence continues to overshadow the four-day stay.

Believe me...My Irish Catholic friends are not smiling! The Queen of England is as welcome at he Garden of Remembrance as Hitler would have been at Auschwitz!

You can say what you want -- I like and admire the Queen. She's so, well, Queenly.

pity the irish taxpayer (already struggling with high taxes and low healthcare/education/wages/everything) have to foot the bill, most old ladys I know pay for their own holidays. She is not a head of state, the PM would be, in my opinion, more entitled to the luxuries on a state visit. I might add the money paying for her plush hotel, and security has come out of the budgent for education, and public health funding. Cheers, neighbour, you screwed us over again.

Complain, and moan all you want. The Queen being in Ireland did nothing but good. She was well received by the people, and her visit can be termed nothing but a success..
Zoe B, this was a good thing no matter how much you are against it.

Yes, Zoe - the Queen is indeed the head of state. The Prime Minister is not. Everything he does (everything the government does) is in the Queen's name.
