I signed this petition with half a heart knowing the lobbying is so much a part of the political system, I cannot see it end.

If only it were this simple. As long as they are rewarded by politicians for the money they throw at them, there's no incentive to stop. The whole system simply has to change.

I had to hit the print button in order for the petition form to show up...

Which I signed...unfortunately until there's full disclosure on campaign donations, every corporation is presumed guilty until proven innocent

Signed and Sad. Washington State was sold yesterday to Costco et al corpo pals and a bunch of drunk skunks. By the way. . .

This matter was clearly SETTLED in several precedent Supreme Court cases [following are brief extracts from Hague vs. C.I.O. to illustrate the point.] The Supreme Kangaroo Court has ignored every sitting court that previously ruled on this very specific issue. Instead they intentionally cherry picked cases to reference, thus effectively sidestepping the cases which held direct rulings that clearly reinforced the settling of the matter that corporations are "artificial entities" or "artificial persons" and as such do NOT have privileges and immunities which are protected under the U.S. Constitution. Their arguments are convoluted, baseless and without reason nor subtance. There has NEVER been such manipulation and machination by our highest court in the history of this nation. The Kangaroo Court actions defy the essence and constructs of our participatory democracy in the making and violate our constitutional rights. In so doing, the actions are criminal in nature and substance. I cannot be the only one who is acutely aware of this but how does one argue a matter before the very criminals who have committed the crime. Having said that where is the high volume OUTRAGE by every constitutional lawyer, legal professional and citizen across this nation. [Is it time to argue this most egregious of matters before another body...Citizenry? International?] I have signed Move To Amend and three other petitions committing to fight this but we must become town criers and trumpet this message across the land. Our democracy in the making has been STOLEN. . .ABDUCTED for profit and power.
No. 651
307 U.S. 496
Argued February 27, 28, 1939
Decided June 5, 1939

MR. JUSTICE BUTLER, presiding in the absence of the CHIEF JUSTICE and MR. JUSTICE McREYNOLDS:

The judgment of the court in this case is that the decree is modified and as modified affirmed. MR. JUSTICE FRANKFURTER and MR. JUSTICE DOUGLAS took no part in the consideration or decision of
the case. MR. JUSTICE ROBERTS has an opinion in which MR. JUSTICE BLACK concurs, and MR. JUSTICE STONE an opinion in which MR. JUSTICE REED concurs. The CHIEF JUSTICE concurs in an opinion. MR. JUSTICE McREYNOLDS and MR. JUSTICE BUTLER dissent for reasons stated in opinions by them respectively.

"4. The liberty guaranteed by the due process clause is the liberty of natural, not artificial, persons. P. 527.
A corporation can not be said to be deprived of the civil rights of freedom of speech and of assembly. "
from: MR. JUSTICE ROBERTS delivered an opinion in which MR. JUSTICE BLACK concurred:

"Natural persons, and they alone, are entitled to the privileges and immunities which § 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment secures for "citizens of the United States." [note 22] Only the individual respondents may,
therefore, maintain this suit."

"Since freedom of speech and freedom of assembly are rights secured to persons by the due process clause, all of the individual respondents are plainly authorized by § 1 of the Civil Rights Act of 1871 to maintain the present suit in equity to restrain infringement of their rights. As to the American Civil Liberties Union, which is a corporation, it cannot be said to be deprived of the civil rights of freedom of speech and of assembly, for the liberty guaranteed by the due process clause is the liberty of natural, not artificial, persons."
We had not completely established the U.S. as a fully inclusive participatory democracy . . .many have always been fighting all their lives for it to come to be. . .but that democracy in progress was abducted as masses were seduced with cheap comfort and convenience and replacing reality with electronic images and sound bites . . .will we do what it takes to cut through the veils of propaganda and illusion and take it back? Call everybody...make signs post them everywhere.

Signed, unfortunately, as Allan stated it; they’re so entrenched in being the welfare receipts of the tax payers and in enacting legislation for their benefit, again at the cost to the tax payers, they own the system. They game the system so efficiently and with such disregard for the ramification subjected on the people it will require a bit more then signing a few petitions to apply the brakes to their momentum. We must be OWS in force = a National General Strike. “This is Our Country and We can SHUT IT DOWN.”

Funny how I’ve been getting so very little response to that call to action outside Oakland, and virtually 0 here on C2. It ain’t gona get done on the key pad or even at the voting booth folks, not in our lifetimes. Been there done that while people started shutting down or paying attention and here we are. And no it’s not funny, it’s sad and unfortunate so few get it who are willing to stand and do something about it. After 30 years of getting it put to us, we’ve become accustomed to taking it, I guess. Their plan, they began to implement with Reagan, is working pretty well, for them, overall. For the rest of us, not so much!

Hawkeye, you deserve another star, but I can't yet. You are right, we need to take this seriously and do something instead of waiting for others.

Thanks for signing our petition calling on corporations to stick to business and stay out of politics. We'll deliver your message to the top 500 companies – starting with Bank of America, our #1 target as chosen by Common Cause activists.
thanks Cal
