I can understand that many people are still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and many are still mourning the loss of loved ones, but at some point we have to realize that not every Muslim in this world is responsible for the acts of the lunatic fringe.

I am PROUD to be one of those who APPROVE! Enough is enough. We either STAND UP & STAND WITH those who protect us -- and ensure the survival of our Western Civilization and Ideals -- or we let the islamists over run our culture, as they have in many parts of Europe -- and start making demands that WE "Accomodate them" and "Change OUR ways" for them! Assimilate, or go back where you came from!

Keep up the good work, NYPD!

Not surprised with post 9/11 New York. If I lived there during the attack, I would be paranoid of anyone with brown eyes let alone Muslim.
We have more to fear from blue eyed religious nuts that would subtly take away our rights, make all us women wear maternity gowns.

It's always easier to say you want to trade away someone else's liberty for the possibility of some temporary security. Of course, once you start chipping away the liberty of this group and that group, you find that somebody decided that you don't need your liberties either, especially if it will make them feel a little bit safer. After all, wouldn't we be even safer if we locked everybody up in little separate cages where they couldn't hurt anyone? And why not? Sure, it removes your liberty, but you already stated that liberty is an acceptable thing to sacrifice for safety.

When this subject first came up, I had agreed on behalf of the NYPD.
Ray Kelly has methodically arranged his forces. The Mayor is taking
every precaution to avoid any acts of Terrorism. NYC must never again
be targeted.

I would have to agree with the NYPD especially after 9/11 In the UK our police have stop checks on cars and it is no longer unusual to see the police armed obviously against terrorists. I say well done we have to keep on top of this all of us live with fear in the back of our minds of the suicide bombers on buses and trains it is very sad but the minority fanatical Muslims have caused this not us.

Just shows how you people hate Muslims The whole Muslim world is being punished for a stupid lunatic act of a group where in innocent people lost their lives these people who acted has no religion they killed more Muslims then number of people who lost their lives in World trade centre where people of all religion worked

@ Matloob u Hasan who wrote: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. - Benjamin Franklin"

I have not given up any "liberty" to gain a little "security" -- it is the terrorists, their apologists & those who support them, who have had to give up their liberties & security.

Knowing that they are under surveillance eliminates THEIR security, and prevents them from being "at Liberty" to target innocent people with their violence! And since most muslims would not turn in another muslim they KNOW or suspect of plotting an attack, we have to rely on NYPD & others to prevent their success.

That suits me just fine! We did NOT start this ... this is a direct result of the actions of those who have targeted US~!

If they're not doing anything wrong, these folks should be GLAD of the surveillance, because more muslims die at the hands of muslims, than by any other group or means.

Parvez Zuberi, you're being a good victim, something the Islamists have worked very hard at portraying all Muslims.

Where is all your concern for the daily atrocities committed by Islamists around the world? Right now hundreds of churches have been burned by Muslims from Nigeria to Egypt to Afghanistan to Iraq to Indonesia. Non-Muslims are being ethnically cleansed from almost every Muslim occupied country right now. Gay people are being persecuted and murdered or have to flee for their lives.

Tens of thousands of Coptic Christians, the original Egyptians before Islam invaded and oppressed them for hundreds of years, are being murdered, persecuted, beaten, burned out of shops, homes and churches, and driven out of their ancestral homeland. Baha'is are being driven out too.

More than 300 churches have been burned in Indonesia, supposedly the most tolerant Muslim ruled land.

Islamist are beheading and terrorizing non-Muslims in Nigeria, Somalia, Thailand, Kenya, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, Indonesia, the Philipines, in their bid to make Islam rule the world, according to Allah's command, and establish Sharia's barbaric law everywhere.

Turkey committed genocide against 3million Greek, Armenian and Assyrian Christians to rid their stolen land of non-Muslims under Attaturk and are still destroying their churches that remain to bear witness to that Holocaust. The few Christians left there live in fear and have few rights. Turkey was once the Christian land of Byzantium where Greeks have lived for 8000yrs until Muslim Turks invaded, conquered and ruled them as second class citizens, before killing them off and stealing their property.

No Muslim occupied country has freedom of religion, speech, conscience or press and it is illegal for anyone to leave Islam with death for them in many Islamic controlled nations, as Mohammed commanded (just like in the Mafia).

A Muslim study found that 80% of mosques investigated in the US preached hate against the US/West and non-Muslims, taught their people to not assimilate, and the US Muslim Brotherhood through their fronts, like CAIR and ISNA and the Muslim Students Assn, said in their FBI captured agenda that they are going to 'destroy western civilization from within' by infiltration and outbreeding us so Islam will rule. They're doing a great job.

Buddhism and Hinduism are growing much faster than Islam in the US, despite 60% of all immigrants being Muslims (and Obama has ordered Muslim immigration to be increased even more), yet no one gives a thought to those groups. Don't you ever wonder why?

No Buddhist or Hindu has blown up any buildings or killed any people in mass shootings, or attempted terror attacks in the name of their religions. None of them do suicide bombings or threaten death to anyone who might criticize their ideologies or those who leave them. That's why.

NYC police would be irresponsible if they didn't monitor what is preached in mosques. Another Islamist was caught there recently planning a bombing. And another Islamist was caught going into the US Capitol bldg in DC with a bomb strapped on him and guns, hoping to take out the whole building and lots of people. All for Allah and Islam. No other religion teaches hate and violence like Islam does, and its founder was a mass murderer, terrorist too - he said "I have been made victorious by terror"!

If you don't like that people fear Muslims/Islam then why don't you Muslims who claim to be against violence quit whining and start standing up to the 20% of Muslims who are orthodox and believe in obeying Mohammed and Allah to the letter in killing unbelievers and conquering the world so Islam rules us all and 'all religion is for Allah'.

Islam is a religion of conquest and violence. If you would read the Qur'an, hadith and sira you'd know that, but maybe you already do and just want to use Muslim Brotherhood tactics to silence any criticism of Islam/Muslims?

Carola May (20)

They would be very negligent in their duties if they didn't monitor mosques and what is said in them. Who would oppose them watching groups of Nazis in the 1930s and 40s when Hitler, their leader, had said he was going to destroy and conquer us all, then actually started doing just that? Churchill warned of the danger of Nazism and Hitler, but many liberals, like PM Chamberlain, called him a hatemonger and appeased Hitler, not wanting to upset him.

Not all Nazis were violent or even supported the reign of death preached by the Nazi founder (who also claimed to be 'guided by Providence', some divine voice. Sound familiar?) But the ideology of the group and its founder DID teach and practice violence and murder (and Hitler and Mohammed both wanted to kill all the Jews. Hitler loved Islam for its hardness and violence).

If no imam is preaching hate and/violence then no one has anything to worry about, do they? Muslims must admit that non-Muslims have legitimate concerns with them and their religious teachings that DO command Muslims to rule the world and commit jihad against all non-Muslims.

Protecting ourselves against an ideology sworn to conquer and kill us, and subdue us under its oppressive rule is not being hateful. It's being intelligent and defending ourselves. We realise there are Muslims who just want to live their lives and don't care that much for being devout, but they are supporting the true Muslims just by their silence.

Susanne - "I can understand that many people are still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and many are still mourning the loss of loved ones, but at some point we have to realize that not every Muslim in this world is responsible for the acts of the lunatic fringe."

I'm sure that you are trying to be considerate of the rights of others but, unfortunately, the lunatic fringe doesn't wear appropriately identifying arm bands or the like. New Yorkers have every reason to be as vigilant as they can. New Yorkers and others suffered a terrible loss on 911 from the hands of muslim extremists not withstanding what conspiracy theorist nut cases have to say.

Here in Southern California, police departments have special units who observe gangs in order to protect citizens from those who would harm us.

I suppose there are some "innocent" gang members---but I would never support shutting down the police units who watch the innocent along with the guilty.

Read R&J's comments above....

And to the BLIND FANS OF ISLAM....keeping an eye on places where trouble has been fomented does NOT in ANY WAY reflect your usual mantra..."hatred of Islam."

If you knew snakes had been breeding in a hole behind your house....wouldn't you keep an eye on that hole? GIVE US A BREAK! If this nation truly had a "war" with Islam....they'd all be rounded up and shipped out. Anyone who doesn't protect their security in a world of jihadists is just playing into their hands.

Or is that what you are suggesting?

Scary how willing people are to have their rights eroded when it begins with someone else's rights...didn't they learn the lessons on incremental dehumanization practiced by Nazi Germany? Or is ensuring people don't know that history part of why NCLB focused on math and reading at the expense of history, civics and government?

Jay S (116)
Thursday March 15, 2012, 9:30 am
JLA, funny but people who criticized the hate and threats from the Nazis and their 'inspired' leader were criticized by people just like you for being 'hatemongers'. Churchill tried to sound the warning as Hitler and the Nazis SAID they were going to conquer everyone, kill all the subhumans, and rule the whole world for 1000 years(just like Orthodox Muslims do - do think they are just kidding?). They were even making a good start on the first two and still liberals like you were saying 'Oh, dear, let's not criticize Mr. Hitler and hurt his feelings'. Your ilk condemned Churchill instead.

If you had any idea of what islam teaches and paid attention to the daily atrocities committed by Islamists (true believers) around the world as they obey Mohammed and his deity, Allah, to conquer us all so Islam rules the world. This is a command for all Muslims.

And to those of you who naively call the violent, hateful Islamists 'extremists' and 'radicals' we must correct your mistake. Those people, estimated to be 20% of all Muslims, will kill you without hesitation, as Allah commands them to, if you are in their way of conquest. They are true Muslims, the Orthodox believers.

It is those Muslims who don't actively commit violent jihad that are the 'radicals' and 'extremists'. They are not following Mohammed's and Allah's commands. But their silence makes them complicit.

Mohammed said: "Killing unbelievers (non-Muslims) is a small matter to us." Mohammed, Tabari 9:69 He wasn't kidding.

Religious freedom for everybody! No-one should be discriminated against because of their religious beliefs! Secularism is evil and communist!

Unless, of course, you have the audacity to be both dark-skinned and worship a different god. One or the other is forgiveable, but not both!

I assume all those of you who are for this also think Christians should be monitored in the same way? There are plenty of Christian terrorists, and reading the Bible shows that they also worship an evil god and love violence and hatred. If you don't, you're a racist and a hypocrite. If you do, I still think you're going too far, and I'm a secularist and anti-theist...

Michael Feinstein (58)

Gillian M (218)
Thursday March 15, 2012, 3:23 pm
Vicky, try reading what is being said, no-one is asking to take their freedom away but are trying to ensure the safety of all.

It is a known fact that most mosques are funded by Saudi and that they are used to teach, recruit and train people to their cause. What is happening is, not a removal of their religious rights but a sensible surveillance. Remember that the 9/11 attackers were home grown and that the FBI & police regularly deal with threats before they happen. Better an arrest to protect the innocent than a terrorist goes free.

Thanks for posting this, Cal. I'm with Matloob and others, here. For evidence I give you all the laws that are currently being passed to make gathering for peaceful protest against the law, the NDAA which makes it okay to incarcerate American citizens indefinitely without trial, the militarization of our police force, etc, not to mention all the laws that are against a woman having control of her own body (oh, okay, I mentioned it.)

Rob and Jay.... onward Christian soldiers.... Christians never kill "unbelievers?" How about all the women they will kill by taking away their reproductive health care? Ever hear of the Crusades? The Inquisition? The witch hunts?

Ever pay cash? Do you have more than a week's worth of food in your home? Those are two of their criteria for watching you as a terrorist, and now you can be held indefinitely without trial.

I do know you are more likely to be a victim of random violence than you are a victim in a terrorist attack.
This is about how safe New Yorkers feel, it's sad they are still so scared but I sure am not going to judge them after what they lived through. I still think it was a inside job

The Imams are not subject any scutiny by a world synod and and anyone can set up a mosque and spread any kind of hatred and encourage terrorism without restraint. The NYPD is doing the right thing by the people of the United States- haven't you guys woken up to the fact that it's the ideology, not the adherents, that is the danger?

Lloyd H (46)
Friday March 16, 2012, 6:20 am
Well evidently in this case the cure for stupidity will be when the NYPD comes looking for them.
As for the pure blinders on crap about Muslims using religion as a judgment toward all, Christians have a 600 year lead in religious persecutions and pogroms not only against other religions but Christian sects that did not have the power to protect themselves. Charlemagne murdered tens of thousands who refused to convert, the Papacy exterminated entire religious orders and sects for holding different interpretations of The Faith. The nether are all of the Inquisitions and witch hunts.
And let us not forget the Christian Taliban of America using religion to pass judgment on Women, Gays,.... And some would do well to remember that Christians and their Bible endorsed and practiced slavery, wife beating and wife rape as a matter religious dogma for thousands of years and now pass laws to Kill Gays, or round them up into camps. Perhaps Christians are so good at living in glass houses and throwing stones because their class house do not appear to be class because they are caked with blood and darkened by the violence of religious intolerance.

Jay S (116)

Bonnie B, your prejudice is showing. Why bring up Crusades that happened 500 or more years ago in response to Islamic invasion and occupation of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the tomb Christ was buried in. Of course to people like you that doesn't count as an atrocity.

We're talking about today and it is in every Muslim occupied land that Christians, Buddhists, Baha'is and all non-Muslims are being ethnically cleansed, murdered, burned out of homes, shops and religious buildings, and driven out to 'purify' these backward Islamic stolen lands of all non-Muslims, just as their founder, Mohammed, did.

Mohammed told Muslims to kill all unbelievers wherever you may find them and conquer the whole world by the sword, infiltration, outbreeding etc, any way they can, so that Sharia Law rules us all and 'all religion is for Allah', the old Arab tribal moon god. Is this what you're defending?

You're either incredibly ill-informed and ignorant or purely evil.

i support the efforts of the NYPD 100%.

not cause of PTSD but cause i know there are mosques where radicalism is preached. if you aren't a radical you're free to practice your faith, they aren't stopping anyone from it.

i do have more than a week of food and i do use cash. if i was monitored as a terrorist, it'd take the feds a very short time to see i'm not one. that's cause i'm not doing or saying anything terroristy. if mosques ARE, and then get shut down, or a guy gets his bomb plot stopped, what, were you gonna let them blow you up because that's freedom of religion? suit yourself.

yup. 100%

christians follow jesus and please quote where he taught violence or hate, since you seem to have read the bible.

are are dangerously naive. i know it's not america and so maybe you're like most americans and don't care about what happens to non-americans, but as far as freedom of religion, do you realize muslim countries are in the middle of genocide of minority religions right now? copts and other christians, bahai, buddhist, sikh. just wondering if you care about that at all.

you ARE right about the patriot act, but police keeping us safe from people who actually wanna kill us and are actively working on it isn't the same as TSA pervs feeling up your grandma for bomb parts or laughing at passenger porn, is it?
