Peru's largest protected area is on the verge of being invaded by a road, which threatens to destroy the lives of thousands of indigenous people.

Not only these people but the who eco system. It will bring loggers in to destroy more of the forest. Its such a bad idea and should be stopped. But, power and greed seem to control things as they do here in the US

Thank-you Cal for posting. We must never cease standing up for indigenous peoples everywhere. This is just so very wrong. . .those taking such a horrendous course could not be more lost.

May I point out that it's NOT just "Indians" who will be devastated by this road? EVERY LIVING THING in its path will be impacted negatively.

Human greed encroachment must end. Can we rid this world of money-based societies, please?

Money is a great channel of exchange. At the same time, it can be used for so many inhuman and anti-environmental purposes. Hope the amount of good money starts replacing bad money

Write a letter to President S.E. Ollanta Humala for the isolated Indians of Peru!
Survival International is urging the Peruvian government to protect these isolated Indians by not allowing any oil exploration, logging or other form of natural resource extraction on their land.
The government must recognise the Indians as the owners of their land...
Muchas Gracias!

Yes, I have mailed this letter:
S.E. Ollanta Humala
Presidente de la República del Perú
Palacio de Gobierno
Plaza de Armas, Lima 1

March 20, 2012.
"Your Excellency,
I am extremely concerned about the future of uncontacted tribes in Peru. They are exceedingly
vulnerable to outsiders' diseases and they have made it clear they want to be left alone. They have
the right to live on their lands and to remain in isolation.
I urge the Peruvian government to protect uncontacted tribes by removing all loggers from their
land, by stopping the entry of any other outsiders, and by prohibiting any form of natural resource
extraction on their territories.
I am particularly concerned about the planned expansion of the Camisea Gas project, which has
already proven disastrous for uncontacted Indians in the surrounding area. At present these tribes
are at huge risk and could well be wiped out if further work is carried out in their protected
I urge you to conform to international law by recognising the tribes as the rightful owners of their

''SIGNED''....they need to leave these poor people ALONE. They have lived on this land for many, many years. They are the last of the uncontacted tribes. If roads are built through there land, this will destroy these them. It will destroy the land, trees and animals. This can't happen. These GREEDY people need to stay OUT of the rainforest and leave these people alone. They DO NOT bother anybody and building roads through the rainforest would be the end of this Indian tribe. This is the ONLY way of life they know. They really live a simple and better life than we do. They may not have very much, but they are a humble tribe. So, ALL you GREEDY people stay OUT of the rainforest and leave these people ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
