Obama claims that he's just "okay" at debating, but despite his shows of modesty, his biggest problem may be overconfidence, says Glenn Thrush at Politico

I believe the President is too smart to be Over-confident. Although, if I were Obama, I certainly wouldn't worry too much about anyone as clumsy with words, as Mitt Romney.

I don't care how the debates go Romney will never be able to get past his 47% remarks.

They always downplay how they will do, but it's not like it's a real debate - 2 minutes and a variety of subjects, not exactly what the debate teams did in school. Then again, maybe it's not "a flash of hubris" but a character flaw.

“Corporations are People! – Mitt Romney
I correct the sentence:

CORPORATION TRAMPLE ON...... PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
or
CORPORATION TRAMPLE ON...... PEOPLE's RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
or
CORPORATION TRAMPLE ON...... PEOPLE's FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
or
CORPORATION TRAMPLE ON...... PEOPLE's HABITAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama, despite any weaknesses suggested by the article, is at the very least a much better speaker than Romney. The point, however, is moot. History suggests that the person with the lead going into the debates has a high probability of winning. Though partisans argue the size of his lead, the reality is that Obama has the lead. He's going to win. It's probably going to be a landslide. Before anyone starts attacking third parties, I, as someone who is going to vote Green(instead of Dem) for the first time ever in over 30 years of voting, readily acknowledge that Obama can completely lose the progressive left vote and still win by a huge margin. He's going to win. There is no need to debate the what-if's because it's disingenuous. Obama will win. Nothing short of a major asteroid impact on North America could change the outcome of the election.

Now to suggest some additional exclamations similar to those of an earlier comment:
UP With People!
Up With Peace!
Up With Economic Justice!
Up With Climate Change Action!

Down With Big Corporations!
Down With Corporate Payola To the Two Party System!
Down With Candidates and Parties That Accept Corporate Dollars!
Down With The Military Industrial Complex, Over-bloated Defense Budgets, and Weapons Manufacturers!
Down With Inaction On Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Infrastructure Maintenance!
Down With Capitalism, Free Market Capitalism, Government For Sale To the Highest Corporate Bidders, And the Complete Shut Out of People Who Care About Economic Justice, the Environment, and Peace from participating in the political Process!

Wow. I feel cleansed. You can tell it's the fourth year of the political cycle when Americans start shouting about politics. If we all stayed this involved on the non-presidential years, this nation might actually stop slipping further and further into corporate control.

By the way, when I list things in terms of, for example,"Down With Inaction On Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Infrastructure Maintenance!" I do mean down with inaction on climate change, down with inaction on renewable energy, and down with inaction on infrastructure maintenance.

Anyone can read the words other people write for them Brian. Some are excellent orators like Obama. But it does not make them smart or competent. It just means they can read words like actors do.

Obama is without a doub the most INCOMPETENT President ever to sit in the White House in all my 69 years. He won a personality contest. Not a presidential race. Romney may not have the personality but he sure as heck has the experience to get your economy going again. Obama has PROVEN he does not.

Let's let the two of them actually have the debate before we analyze their performances.

As we all know, they're both going to try to dodge the questions and launch into their pre-prepared speeches, so we'll only hear more of the usual rhetoric.

I agree with you Phil. Instead of following all the hype lets wait to see how it all plays out.

Why should either of them dodge the questions? They already know what they will be asked. Huh, Cam - why not take a bit of your own advice?

Drudge Report? Stuff from 2007? Who cares?

People do care about the candidate that disdains nearly half of Americans to be of interest, and they most certainly should find that attitude of interest. Or was that only his attitude for that day?
