An upcoming "Giggin' for Grads" fundraiser in DeKalb County, Tennessee may help a high school senior defray college costs, but it also means the cruel killing of wild frogs

Action taken. Is is just me or is the South constantly doing absurd things against animals more than other parts of the US?

What a disgrace, and what are we teaching high school pupils, that this is a thing to do? About first world countries...the line seems to be getting a bit fine. I thought that first world countries were higher in empathy, intelligence and education that those of us in third world countries, but looking at this, I wonder if thats true anymore!

Thanks. Cal! signed and shared.
The frogs are the most sensitive animals on this planet to climate change, and we have already lost many species and are losing species of frogs and toads as we speak. To arrange a killing spree las a contest is an abomination, to say the least. We have lost numerous small frogs and toads in the Amazonian Basin alone, and now the waters of these - often misjudged - amphibians' habitats are warming up and destroying their eggs, and the thinned-out ozone layer is killing off the adults, as they get sunburns and also lose their food sources. The frog-killing contest is absurd, and from a time, when frogs were plenty, but the sense of it taking place now is insane. We need our amphibians, their ecosystems need them, they are there just for fun, but to do an ecologically important work by reducing and keeping at bay their food sources. What really makes me mad is the thoughtlessness of people today, and in this particular case the organizers want to collect as big a profit as possible, and under false pretenses. Call in the Greenpeace and national animal protection organizers to protest the contest and have them hand out leaflets filled with information of extinct, vulnerable and endangered frogs. That should do at least something. At least i would do that...

Bright, young, college-bound students should be discouraged from acts of animal cruelty, not taught to benefit from them !!!
