Over 100 scientists have issued a statement to the Ecuadorian Congress warning that proposed oil development and accompanying roads in Yasuni National Park will degrade its "extraordinary biodiversity."

I like the Ecuadorian Tapir. It would be wrong to let it become extinct.
People who destroy biodiversity and the culture of indigenous people do not know that what they are destroying is worth a lot more than what they get by doing so.
It reminds me of a line from Fitzgerald's translation of Omar Khayyam: " I often wonder what the wintners buy one half as precious as the goods they sell." Int he poem wine and drunk are symbolic of enlightenment.
