reason number 8, it's the birthplace of the scythians and the parhtians. in other words, the russians.
reason number 9, since the golden horde it has belong to a bevy of khanates and some polish mixed in.
reason number 10, it has belonged to russian longer than texas has belonged to us.
and the best reason, reason number 11 is that russia is the ukraine and the ukraine is russia.

I must admit I find it hard not to laugh when I see something like "America's World News Site". But again, lets not loose site that is what Europe that demanded an either or approach.

Very interesting. I was aware of the historic and political links, but not really aware of the economic significance of the Ukraine to Russia. Hopefully a diplomatic solution can be found.
