Armed men have raised flags over government buildings declaring "Crimea is Russia", while separatist and pro-Ukrainian groups have clashed with each other in the streets.

Cal the link to Chile's fossil find was interesting, but I don't think that was what you intended ,but thanks anyway. As for Crimea both Russia and America should not be involved, let the people there settle own problemsThey would be better being very involved in the mass genocide taking place on the African continent. .

I am not surprised by this intervention by Russia I saw it coming a mile away. However I think it would be a great mistake for the west to intervene.I think this will either result in civil war or a full scale invasion by Russia.

I totally disagree with Alfred Donovan, haven't we learned anything since Hitler invaded Rheinland and Sudentenland???This is blatant disrespect of Ukrains territory and we must not allow this to happen.

What is so dangerous about Crimea staying with Russia since Crimea is essentially part of Russia. What is dangerous is how the US funded the uprising and continues to destabilize regions around the world and continues to oust legitimately elected officials that get in the way of colonialism. Russia has a fleet and a large number of forces in Crimea they are not going to give up Crimea and I can't really blame them. Arid Warud I would not bring up Hitler since the neo-nazis played a large part in the uprisings in the Ukraine.

I completely agree with Jamie Clemons. Today at the Opera "Prince Igor" I spoke with a Russian friend who said exactly the same. Krushchev 'gave' Crimea to Ukraine for some reason but it is really a part of Russia.

Putin is making a big mistake legislating military intervention in a neighboring country and fueling more political unrest just after a settlement of differences seemed to settle the Ukraine, obviously not in their favor. I am at a loss here, why would Russia want to do this? Beware, Putin wants to expand Russia and reclaim lands lost after the collapse of the USSR. What should Poland say to this? They were the most cheated and punished country by friend and foe during WW2.(they were the only allied country excluded from to the London Victory Parade to not offend Stalin. What about Eastern Poland, which is now part of the Ukraine. Sure Stalin compensated Poland by shifting them West into Germany. Lemberg, Lviv, L'vov, Lwiw, however one wants to spell it, it will always be a troubled region and it might just come into the equation and give Putin more headaches.

Jamie Clemons is taking my point of Hitler's invasions completely out of context, yes there were ultra right-wing protesters at "Maidan" in Kiev but the main part of protesters was against President Viktor Yanukovich and his ruling party.Read this article from Financial Times if you want to get your facts straight:

I do agree with him when it comes to USA's imperialism, which is a part of your history that you cannot be proud of.

The facts still remain the same:Russia invaded a sovereign state,ie Ukraine, and that is what we're discussing, you have your opinion but as we say "Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.

I would like that you in the US had a free press and that you read more than the headlines and look at the pictures.......

Ignorance is bliss
