"Did you know that the popular PBS series, Antiques Roadshow, regularly appraises ivory carvings on air? Owners of the artifacts may be hoping for a big pay day, but we already know what they are worth: dead elephants.

Antiques Roadshow on BBC America will only appraise ivory that is 100 years old or older & they state you cannot buy or sell ivory or objects made with ivory in them - it's against the law (both in the UK & in America now). So anyone with an older (but not old Enough) piano is stuck with it.

You cannot sell or trade in ivory antiques made or sold before 1947 in the UK and in most other countries it's illegal to do so and can bring heavy fines.
