Shared and noted with outrage! Thanks, Cal. Talk about having a granite set! Don't have a problem with speaking fees in general; but The Shrub taking money from Veterans? sheesh!

I like the photo, he appears to be suffering from flatulence.I don't think he ranks too high in the popularity ,stakes.

Someone else, in a related/associated article on the same thing, claimed this is a lie and that George Bush doesn't take money like this.

Where's the evidence?

I agree with Darren---I normally am all over Bush/Cheney. think they ought be tried for war crimes at the least. But, somehow this doesn't ring true. Especially with Jeb in the limelight, I doubt it. But, thanks for presenting this for perusal--noted Cal.

Hillary Clinton DONATED to charity all her speaking engagement fees before announcing her run. The Clinton Foundation accepts donations worldwide for worldwide charity work and hires and pays 2000 people and yet has 89% going for charity work.

Meanwhile the Bush family are grabbers----they have acres upon acres in Paraguay taking water rights which will scam the people......they made huge profits off of wars---thru the Carlyle Group----and we pay for GW & Mrs security and healthcare.....and probably like Romney hide money off shore and pay little or no taxes

Came across this petition;

Ask George W. Bush to give back $100,000 fee for speaking at "Helping a Hero" fundraiser for housing

Snopes declares that Bush did indeed receive $100,000 for speaking - his people declared it was justified because a) his normal fee is $250,000 and he reduced it and b) because his speech ended up in bringing considerably more contributions.

Since, imo, it's Bush's fault that there are wounded veterans at all, I see no justification. But then the only way I would ever pay to hear Bush speak is if it was from a prison cell.

Since President Ford, former Presidents have been paid very well for public speaking and George W Bush is no different it is not as if he has been whoring himself out to a thousand desperate fat chicks. In actuality $100,000 is the low end of the fees so to him he is doing it cheaply. The issue is for a man whose Chicken Hawk credentials were well on show when he was President he really must have balls to address Veterens given the comtempt his administration showed them. The question should be why would anyone want to hear this refugee from a War Crimes Tribunal speak in the first place?

Noted. Thanks, Cal.
Just grates on my last nerve.....this entitled warmonger. He should be so ashamed of himself that he should remove himself entirely from any publicity----just get out of any public life. That goes for the entire Bush family.

Louise D. expresses my point of view nicely: why would the vets even have asked Mr. POS to speak.
HE is the guy who called returning wounded soldiers "beggars!"
John G., I read your piece, and then Arielle's about Snopes, and it's a little like "He said, she said," but I, also, would like to see he and Cheney speak from behind bars!
