The sooner the EPA chief gets his act together on this, the better.

Who's cleaning that mess up??

Gina McCarthy: “The good news is, the river seems to be restoring itself,” she said. Apparently this is her idea of a cleanup.

Attempts at what? “EPA plans to continue to monitor, analyze and share data for downstream river segments as it becomes available,” that certainly doesn't constitute a clean up in my books. Letting the water spread the toxins over an increasing area is not damage control nor an indication that the toxins left behind are going to be taken actively out of the environment and that the EPA isn't going to wait until water, as scarce as it is, has diluted the toxins to "normal" levels in the course of a number of years.

Hopefully this is not just another "play for the gallery" as we say here in Norway.

From what I've read the EPA aren't doing anywhere near enough.

Hope it turns out well, the river does seem to be restoring itself, but what about wildlife there?

What, you mean the government doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground? How shocking! Because they did such a great job during Katrina.

EPA, Fish and game and Secretary of Interiors have been major disappointments for many years. Need to get people in these departments that will look out for wildlife and the environment

Did you guys read the article? This spill was brought to us courtesy of the biggest company in America, the government. The EPA CAUSED the spill. If it had been caused by a private company they could be sued and reparations made. But, because it's the government we get to pay for it with all the speed of government agencies. I invite Ms. McCarthy to stop grandstanding and trying to cover her and Obama's ass. As long as you're in my state doing damage control, drink the water, look the members of the Ute tribe in the face and pretend that you're capable of caring beyond your platitudes.
