Thanks for posting Cal. I need all the help I can get. Delving into animal activism has certainly disturbed my sleeping patterns. I sometimes use you tube relaxation videos or rain sounds to help me sleep.

With regards to the first suggestion: your supposed to be asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed. If you are still wide awake, you need to get up and continue your day with going to sleep activities in mind.

Turn off the T.V., get off the computer, put on some white noise type music(no words) and Read something relaxing- the latest women's magazine is what I do or any other type of light reading.

You will get drowsy naturally then go back to bed. If you still can't get to sleep-repeat. You will eventually get tired and go to sleep.

If it turns out that you only get 5 hours of sleep from this night, okay. Tomorrow night follow the same ritual and go to bed 15 minutes earlier than it took you to fall asleep last night.

Your body won't notice the 15 minutes as much as it would if you went to bed an hour earlier. For me, I had to do this in 10 minute increments

Continue to do this until you are getting the recommended sleep hours you need-7.

Try recounting the events of your day, but backwards. The effort alone required, will wear you out!
