A war between India and Pakistan could produce human suffering the likes of which the world has never seen before.

Thanks for talking about this. It was in discussion when the cold war was going on. This threat however has not gone away.

Stop all wars requires that leaders put aside their egos and start to work for what is best for ALL people in a fair way. There can be no bullies in the room, they MUST start to act like Human Beings.....which they are forgetting that everyone has a right to be here. Fairness at all levels.....everywhere.

Once again, politics and nationalism trump the survival of this planet. We need to prepare for the worst, even while we petition our "leaders" to act in the interests of all humankind.

"Most ominously, the decision to fire such a nuclear-armed missile with a range of 35 to 60 miles is to rest with local commanders."

"More recent studies have shown that up to a billion people worldwide might be put in danger of famine and starvation by the smoke and soot thrown into the troposphere in a major nuclear exchange in South Asia."

That might be humanity's scariest problem: "They" are "Acting" like Human Beings.

I want to know why, if we are supposed to be the intelligent species (we are from that but too many think we are) we keep having wars, building bigger and more powerful weapons and just never seem to learn? What a #$%# up species we are.

That might be humanity's scariest problem: "They"..........are "Acting" like Human Beings, when the rest of us are Human Beings.

This alarmist article is full of fear mongering. There is a YouTube site that shows all the above ground nuclear tests during the Cold War. There are hundreds. There is no way the India and Pakistan have that many nukes. This would bring about the deaths of millions but not Nuclear Winter. Besides, there is evidence that the peoples in this area had a nuclear war some 15,000 years ago.

I agree with Dandelion's post that Randy posted. Plus I want to say each and every person on this planet needs to speak and show acts of kindness. I practice and pray for it daily. Thanks Cal

In agreement with Dandelion and Randy and I view it as "someone behind the scene's" reducing overpopulation in an area that contributes to that critical global issue. I sense that there are "targeted areas" that will meet the same fate. This planet has become a vale of tears. Peace. Thanks Cal.

We must each practice love and kindness so it will spread instead of spreading hate. Thank you Cal. Shared

I heard yesterday that the human race will become an extinct species if we do not do something about it. Please do your best to leave this planet in as good, if not better place than you arrived in it.

Cal, there are so many flashpoints in the world that could result in massive destruction, to all living things that it makes people live in denial that something this horrible could ever happen. However, with all of weapons in the world one knows that it is only a matter of time before a major conflict erupts involving several countries at the least.

Everyone tends to blame ideology, but this is only a fa├žade, as the real reason for conflict is plain and simple greed! Lastly, this is kind of like little kids playing with matches while standing next to a natural gas pipe which is developing a leak, sooner or later someone will ignite the spark which shall engulf the entire world.

Consumer capitalism coupled with inherently corrupt governments are stripping Mother and it's peoples of their wealth. They do not realize that "The one that dies with the most toys, still dies." They care not for their own children, grandchildren or any and all other creatures.
