The outcome of the American Presidential election has sent a shock wave through the not-so United States, and it won’t come as a surprise that Donald Trump’s victory has left many others in the world quite stunned too.

In other words, they essentially reacted the same way I did.

To get the ONLY positive front page would have been in Russia!!!
I cannot believe the USA could vote in an individual so intellectually and morally bankrupt. It has shaken my faith in humanity.
Thanks Lona for the front pages, & comics.......they summed it up very well.

Yesterday morning the entire USA had a Coyote Ugly moment. Now all we can do is prepare for the coming storm - and try to enjoy the ride. We Progressives need to get better organized and FIGHT BACK in every way we can. Let us hope that we can still do so with non-violent means.

Thanks for the post Lona. I would have hated it if we had another Clinton in the White House! Maybe I'll lose some friends (I hope not!) for saying this but I believe that with Pence as his VP Trump will have a cooler, head.

Thanks Lona for posting and Ted and Rhonda for forwarding.Like most others I'm surprised not onlyhe won but his party also but we must remember that both won by a democratic vote so I can't join in the dirge. What could be a little worrying is what was in the minds of those who voted for him. They were the silent majority who suddenly became vocal.Their dissatisfaction must have reached breaking point.W hat could also be a concern is that now has has a party behind him and will have unfettered power to act as he wills .We can only hope he doesn't go to extremes,We will just to wait and see.

Thanks to Rhonda for sending this to me. The foreign media seems to be just as horrified as so many of us are with a man like Trump actually becoming President of the U.S. It doesn't say much for the Americans who voted for such an appalling choice.

Thanks Lona. There are reports he offered Kascich domestic and foreign policy control to be his VP (while he concentrated on making the country great again)...makes me wonder what he offered Pence who did speak out against some of his unconstitutional plans regarding refugees and immigrants.

Barb Knight, no one can change a mind like yours. Pence is as as evil as Trump. Clinton may have had baggage, but at least she was intelligent. Most progressives would have preferred Bernie, but sadly it was not to be. The rest of the world is now laughing at the USA, which is very sad for you all there.

Thanks, Lona. Here's something else that scared me as I thought of it this morning while out seeing my doctor and running some errands - I get Veteran's Day as a holiday, which, as a veteran, I've always considered proper, but I also always end up using it do things I'd have to take time off work for like doctor's appointments - pre-cataract surgery physical today and a surprise THIRD anti-pneumonia shot (they've come up with a new protocol), but had a nice chat with my young doctor, around 40, who was as shocked as I by Tuesday's results - he and I share the same political outlook so it is always nice to talk to him as well as see him as he is a brilliant doctor too - which is why I chose him many years back. Anyway, the thought. Trump is 70, may be in decent health, but we can't know that, he doesn't release any records, but I actually hope he makes it through his only term because if he didn't, well Pence is FAR to the right of Trump and would be even worse in almost every way, what he has done in Indiana is little short of criminal, particularly to women. So Trump better stay alive. I don't know his genetic history but I never cared much about his health nor thought about it till this morning - part of my errands involved a trip across the metro so had time to think on the road. Always dangerous. :^)

he was even back on twitter and still calling Elizabeth warren pocahantis. and the protesters names too., how people could have elected him I don't know. I was told today that 15000 people voted for the poor dead gorilla.

I was for Hillary all the way since (in my opinion) she would've been the best chance for more meaningful progress. Trump is the ultimate pro-corporate, bigoted, sexist, nationalist, racist, elitist. His being elected just proved to me 1. how sexist this country is, 2. that some people don't want progress 3. we need to think about abolishing the electoral college.

Sad to see how the world views the USA now. The picture of the President's Seal of the United States says it all, imho.

Thank you, Lona for posting.

Lona, you really outdid yourself. Just want to note that Trump's son did say his VP would be running foreign and domestic affairs, so it's a possibility Pence will be running the country. And I noted in the newspaper this morning that Trump has "three of his adult children and his son-in-law joining a 16 member advisory committee to help guide his choices." I can't see how they will be guiding his choices if they do everything he tells them to do, which seems to be the case. Thanks for the post, Lona.
