Text:

we petition the obama administration to:

grant clemency to Native American activist Leonard Peltier without delay.
10th Circuit Court of Appeals: "…Much of the government’s behavior... and its prosecution of Leonard Peltier is to be condemned. The government withheld evidence. It intimidated witnesses. These facts are not disputed."

While others were acquitted on grounds of self defense, Peltier was convicted in connection with the 1975 shooting deaths of two FBI agents. Evidence shows that prosecutors knowingly presented false statements to a Canadian court to extradite Peltier and manufactured the murder weapon (the gun and shell casings entered into evidence didn't match; this fact was hidden from the jury). The number of constitutional violations in this case is simply staggering.

It's time to right this wrong. Mr. President, you can and must free Leonard Peltier.

Green Stars to everyone with my sincere appreciation & gratitude.
Thank you Dandelion for sharing this message with friends as I know friends here have also done...

GOOD NEWS - Leonard has been recently transfered to USP-Coleman in Florida. Now his medical conditions can be treated and prayers are rising for better health in his 67th year of life.

I received this message from LPDOC which I want to share with you:

Monday, September 26, 2011, 11:26 AM

The Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee (LPDOC) is a grassroots organization. Like similar organizations, our funds are limited. Fiscally conservative, we've cut many of our expenses and stretched our small budget as far as it will go. Our clemency campaign on Leonard's behalf has many critical elements already underway. These activities must continue if we are to succeed. Please help.

--Sponsor our delegate to next month's annual conference of the National Congress of American Indians. Help us with funds for airfare and registration, meals and incidental expenses.

--Perhaps you can't join us to represent Leonard Peltier outside the White House Tribal Conference (tentatively in November). Help to sponsor someone else in your place.

--Leonard's recent transfer to USP-Coleman in Florida has created sudden and unexpected increases in the cost of attorney travel.

--Due to distance and economic hardship, family members have been unable to visit with Leonard for a year.

Please make a pledge to donate as little as $5 per month—the cost of a Starbucks coffee—to keep Leonard's hope for freedom alive.
Visit Thank You in Advance for Your Support
Scroll down to the Make the Pledge section. Select the frequency (monthly, quarterly or annually) and amount of your donation.

You can also donate by check or money order. Send your donation to the LPDOC, PO Box 7488, Fargo, ND 58106. Or make a one-time donation online. Visit our home page at Donate and click on the Donate button at the top of the page.

If you prefer, you can donate mailing supplies to assist us with our work:

--Donate a box of #10 envelopes.

--Donate reams of standard size all-purpose paper.

--1st class stamps are always needed. Yes, we use electronic means of communication often. However, the best way to get information into someone's hands is by direct mail. Just this past week, we concluded a mailing that required 537 stamps at a cost of over $200. We need many more stamps to continue our outreach to gain support for Leonard's freedom.

Go to purchase pre-paid Priority Mail flat rate envelopes (9.5” x 12.5”)
Have them delivered to the LPDOC.

Your assistance is important to us and we appreciate your support. Thank you.

The CD, "My Life Is My Sun Dance: Prison Writings of Leonard Peltier" has been nominated for Best Historical Linguistic and Best Spoken Word recordings. The CD features readings of Peltier's words, by best-selling author and former National Geographic writer/editor of 23 years, Harvey Arden, with musical accompaniment by Rev. Goat Carson & the New Orleans Light.

The CD, "Noble Red Man: Lakota Wisdomkeeper Mathew King" has also been nominated for Best Historical Linguistic and Best Spoken Word recording. It too consists of readings by Harvey Arden, with musical accompaniment by Jeff Foreman and David Lee.

While we are excited that both of our CDs have been nominated for the same category, that also means we are competing against ourselves, since you only get one vote per category! So, vote with your heart!!!!

Harvey Arden is also up for nomination for the "Native Heart" award for his tireless work to share the stories, lives, history, and messages of the Native & Indigenous People, worldwide!

Please vote for all three categories!!!! We need your votes today!

These CDs are only two of the many projects that Harvey has dedicated himself to, in order to share the stories, lives, history, and messages of the Native & Indigenous People, worldwide. For those unfamiliar with Harvey Arden, here is just a short list of the projects he has been involved with, relating to his life-long dedication to working with Native American Indians:

* National Geographic Staff Writer for 23 years (various feature articles)
* Wisdomkeepers: Meetings w/ Native American Spiritual Elders (author)
* Dreamkeepers: A Spirit-Journey into Aboriginal Australia (author)
* Noble Red Man: Lakota Wisdomkeeper Mathew King (author)

Just to let those who had difficulties signing in, I did sign in tonight without any problems so I would suggest that you try again taking each step slowly and carefully and you should not have any problems.
My seestah "C" I did not see a blank page.
The same info is still there but the actual petition to sign can only be obtained individually by setting up an account.

Thank you everyone for signing, or sharing this critical petition. As of today, October 13, 2011 there are only 215 signatures needed. Having said that ... for 'some reason' when I signed in to my account the petition was
'not there' . So I have sent this message and asked for a response. If you sign in and do not see the petition for Leonard you can likewise send your own message letting the WH know this is a TIME SENSITIVE ISSUE with the closing date for signatures on this petition October 22, 2011.

Here is my message:
October 13, 2011

Re: Petition

grant clemency to Native American activist Leonard Peltier without delay

Due date for signatures is October 22,2011

I have attempted to locate this petition without success.
215 signatures are needed to reach the 5,000 goal.
Many people would appreciate the opportunity to sign this petition; therefore, I am asking the White House to please 'find' this petition and make it available to be signed.

Kindly assist in this matter which requires immediate attention due to the time sensitive closure for signatures.

Thank you.

Still, the more, the better, so even though we passed the 5000 needed to be considered, the higher the numbers the better. It is an abomination that this man has spent so much time behind bars for something he never did.

Thankful Leonards petition has reached it's goal. Now our prayers is that this will be taken seriously and that the FBI will not block it as they have done in the past. Any legitimate gripe they may feel they have, this man has paid dearly for it. I don't believe he did what the FBI siad, but surely, can they not let this man, now old and ill go and return to his people and his family to live out whatever days he has left. The reservation isn't llike the lap of luxury he will be going back to, but it's at least his freedom.
