A music festival in Spain has canceled the performance of American Jewish rapper Matisyahu in solidarity with the BDS movement because the artist wouldn't sign a pledge supporting the Palestinian state.

I don’t think Jews ever faced a greater danger than Zionism.

A shame that they did that.

Barbarism has it's own reward? Thanks for sharing, Sam!

Thx for the story Sam.
What a perfect proof how BDS is working! No petition needed even, the organisation and fellow musicians took care of this!
The rapper may not be a zionist but, the fact that he refused tó make the public statement in support of Palestinian rights, as was asked of him, was reason enough to disqualify him for an event of this nature and spirit.
It caused me to explore the festival's website-WOW, just wonderful! The one thing I did NOT FIND, however, was that alledged "2,5 hours video on pro-Palestinian activists holding Palestinian flags and decrying Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip" (Times of Israel).
What I found instead were a number of laudable statements and about the festival's history and ideas.
Notably this: A Culture of Peace (read more> http://www.rototomsunsplash.com/en/info/quienes-somos/a-culture-of-peace/)

I kept trying to find fault with what Zarif is saying, but couldn’t.

And that is exactly what Netanyahu fears. It wasn’t the Iranian bomb that scared him, but its absence. Now all justifications, if there were ever any valid ones, for Israel's nuclear arsenal have been removed. The world should tackle the issue of Israel’s nuclear arsenal with the same vigor it exhibited in its dealings with Iran’s nonexistent nuclear arsenal.

I wouldn't have thought you'd be worried about Jews suffering, Sam.

read for yourself at site >
Rototom public statement

Why couldn't this be ennough, why involve the Spanish govt. my goodness. And suggesting Spain cut funding for the festival seems more of an overreach than what that BDS group apparently did. And that's not the Jewish Congress' business either.

Meanwhile the rapper has a performance tonight here in Germany (Frankfurt) and it'll be interesting to see if he will attend the Rototom or not, so far it's still Etana listed for the 22nd. Up to him to end his suffering, but what if Etana suffers next? Any outcry?

Any chance his dignity may get in the way?

Probably so, yes. He could always say 'ladies first' like a gentleman would do.. ;)
But here's another rapper who did sign a statement of support for Palestinians on Tuesday: Talib Kweli is among these

I don't know anything about Matisyahu but this is what Omar Barghouthi, co-founder of the BDS movement, had to say when the show was first cancelled:
"Human rights organizers in Spain have successfully pressured the Rototom festival to cancel this U.S. artist's show because of his record of hateful and racial incitement and his defense of Israeli war crimes and human rights violations.
Matisyahu's ethnicity, faith and other identity attributes are absolutely irrelevant to the campaign waged by human rights defenders in Spain against his show."

Thanks Angelika! I think Barghouthi is far more credible that those Zionists who are screaming their heads off.

And if I were Matisyahu, I would be offended and wouldn't show up anyway!

Likewise, this is how Americans suffer for the U.S.'s barbaric policies:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsIWPPw-JzU

It's all your own fault for that terrible disrespect for religion with your damn "freedom of religion" BS. No wonder they hate you. You have only your own government's policies and your abhorrent value-system that supports it to blame.

Now go sign a paper supporting the implementation of Sharia law in your area before you are allowed to get a work-contract. It's only proper.
