Israeli foreign ministry spokesman called Brazil a "diplomatic dwarf" after Brasilia recalled its ambassador from Israel to protest a military offensive in Gaza.

That “diplomatic dwarf” may have been underestimated!

The official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said Israel would have to choose a different envoy because the choice of Dayan has further worsened relations that turned sour in 2010 when Brazil decided to recognise Palestinian statehood in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, which Israel captured in a 1967 war and settled.

I do hope Ms Roussef has enough backbone to withstand any pressure, especially from a bully with a record of pissing in leader's faces, with no qualms if they happen to be a lady.
How very stupid is this insisting on the one least qualified to represent the apartheid state, don't they know a person not welcome isn't likely to make a good diplomat. Pressure or blackmailing is their usual style but won't work with everybody any longer. I'm sure this choice for Dayan isn't coincidental but a thought out and planned provocation in return for 2010. Yet another effort to have the settlements accepted as 'Israel'.

Brazil is better off without Dayan and its military without Israeli advice or aid, I'm sure they can easily get that from the Russians if needed. And they'd be smart to get closer to the future regional powerhouse in the ME that is Iran.
Would be nice to have a petition or two to also use some counter pressure in the right direction, just in case..
Thanks Sam.

Netanyahu is a disgrace to Israel. He is counting on Israel's status as a sacred cow. Time for us to point out that, as Abbie Hoffman famously observed, sacred kine make the tastiest hamburger. Kosher or not.

Excuse my language, but I hope Brazil's government will tell these Israeli blackmailers to stick their diplomatic relations at the primary level where the sun doesn't shine. As far as the Brazilians are concerned the diplomatic relationship hit rock bottom when it recalled its ambassador from Israel to protest a military offensive in Gaza last year, so why should they accept having Dayan shoved down their throats now? With the Olympics in August in Brazil, Israel stands to lose a lot of project work with this attitude. It's unbelievable that the Israeli government thinks it can maintain any diplomatic relationship by bullying.

Bully-boy tactics again ....?
But with the Minister already resident in the WB (settlement) - why not an Ambassador also from a WB settlement?

Perhaps it is time to refuse discussion with Settlement-residing Ministers, too???? Same principles ...
