Expectations were high during President Barack Obama's election campaign, and for good reason. Obama and VP Joe Biden both had

Can any animal lover imagine what would happen to the animal protection programs/agenices if the likes of gun toten, killing of animals for sport $arah were to be in the White House ever. Those would be some of her first cuts...to the bone and close their doors.
Good to know this about both of these men.

...ooops, hit the submit button to fast. Once they held great records and then ..what happened ? At least he hasn't done all that some like bimbo animal killer $arah would be doing. Lets hope they get with the program and return to more protections not less.

Thank you for posting, Genoveva. I think we all know that repugs would be worse, but that does not excuse this Administrations extremely disappointing environmental/wildlife anti- actions. The appointee of Ken Salazar as we all know has been a nightmare for many of our native wildlife. Putting Tester's Rider on the budget bill was an abomination, and now wolves are facing mass slaughter in several states. Proposals to drill in the Arctic, listing Polar bears as threatened, rather than endangered so they can pander again to corporations. Well, it's all in there. Freaking nightmare and heartbreak for our wildlife, and for many of us who wanted to believe that this adminstration might be different than the usual greedy, take-all, suck out all resources, destroy and exploit, who cares about future generations of anything, ETC, ETC,ETC.....Further rolling back conservation efforts for National forests and funding...back to Reagan's era. Had to get that one in too.

But he didn't even keep a simple promise to save a rescue dog! And don't even get me started on how little Joe Biden gave to charities when he has done his taxes in the last few years! He gave less than me and I am broke! And don't even get me started on their environmental records! Yes, the GOP is horrible too, and I would immigrate to Mexico if Palin gets elected. So why then, do we keep complaining about this things and keep voting for them anyway? Things will NEVER change without a Third Party system! Go Green Party 2012 and Humane Party 2016!

Animals lives always are at the MERCY of Humans! Good thing we are all here to be their voices as we cannot depend on the ones in power to do the job! Thanks Genoveva.

Signed. The President could promote adoption, saving shelter or pound mothers, puppies, young and senior dogs. He could promote pit bull awareness and saving/rehabilitating them from dog fighting. He could do so MUCH for a dog and conservation of endangered animals (THEY ARE ENDANGERED when man gets involved in their habitat! How can he have a dog and not wish to help so many others?

The most disturbing decisions he made, IMHO, are:
* purchasing a dog from a breeder
* appointing a hunter and agribusiness owner as the arbiter on animal endangerment (Salazar has to go).

This article also fails to mention Obama's lack of outrage in dealing with BP's disaster, also what has his administration done about Exxon's disaster in Yellowstone park?
In particular I was disturbed to read that he supported the International Species Act for blue fin tuna, and polar bears, but in the next paragraph, he supports off shore drilling while will further destroy the polar bears' natural habitat.
The ASPCA and the SPCA have been petitioning his administration for years for a federal law against animal abuse. Now each state sets its own law, and some states do not even have an animal protection law! No response.

I think Hilary would have had a better record with animals if she were elected besides both her husband and daughter are now vegans!

Noted. Thank you for posting, Genoveva. While not as bad as the Republicans, Obama has been a huge disappointment with regard to both domestic and wild animal welfare.
