Community Services Minister Kevin Green today said a call was made to his department about the two-year-old boy, whose body was found in a pond in the city's southwest last week.

“The NSW Department of Community Services takes over 240,000 calls to its helpline each year,” Mr Green told reporters.

“My preliminary advice is that there was a contact made with the helpline with regards to this child.”

A 26-year-old Rosemeadow woman has been charged with murder after police raided a home in the suburb Friday night.

The woman, believed to be the boy's mother, was refused bail in court today and she will next face Campbelltown Court on December 12.

The toddler's body was found by two boys who pulled a tartan suitcase out of a pond at Mandurama Reserve, Ambarvale, at about 5pm (AEST) on Wednesday.

Poor Baby!!! How dose this happen!!!! Throw the damn book at this monster!!! I feel for those little boys who found this baby, they will never be able to erase this from their minds and this poor excuse of a human should be charged with that as well.

I can't understand how someone can discard their child in a suitcase or anything for that could she just throw this child away like it was yesterday trash...and those poor little boys that found the suitcase...I agree with Andrea...they will never be the same...they will carry this for the rest of there awful...put her in jail and throw away the key...noted.
