I think I posted my comments to the wrong place I think that we should go back to basics and have classes on howYoung parents on how their children should be treated we never heard anyhting like this in the 40's 50's and 60's (I am not saying it didn't go on) but we never heard our parents talk about anything like that. Whats gone wrong with our society to-day. Is it to many bad films and Tv programs drugs and drink to easy.
We can blame a lot of others for things but it comes down to How we were brought up shown right from wrong. Yes you will get Mom's Dad's Uncles and Aunts abusing children because they were abused thenselves BUT IT HAS TO StOP My own opinion is that if they are caught they should be made to watch these sort of films of abuse day in day out until they can't take anymore and show remorse for what the have done and hope it makes them sick if it doesn't they are Psycho's put in a Mental Hospital and throw away the key they are not fit to be in our society.

I remember a German website set up by a rape victim to give women the chance to tell their story of rape and abuse the way they want to. The site was taken down after it turned out that its main readers were the very perverts they wanted to free themselves from. They just get a kick out of it. These books are not educational, they are porn. Period.

read one of the books mensioned: A little Prisoner. It shocked me so much that I felt physically sick for a week and couldn't get it out of my head for months. I certainly won't be reading another. It made me feel implicit in the crime. Surely getting pleasure from reading such a book makes you slightly sick yourself? It is very disturbing to think that these are bestsellers. I doubt that publishers sell these books in order to benefit the victim. I don't see them publically plowing money into children's charities or schemes to help the victims of abuse. If these books are sold I think that a large cut of the publisher's money should go to preventing stories like these happening in the first place.
this is someones comment & i agree
actually the proceeds of all of these books should go the victims
we live in a very sick world. the sorely missing ethics and integrity in this regard ceratinky needs admonishing
very nauseating

Julia and Sophia I completely agree with you. I have not and will not read this book. It is sad that a book of such horror would be a bestseller. Just shows how sick and demented people can be in this world.

For some children the horror of having been through it once was enough...more than enough. Then to have to write a book about it and relive it all must be the most appalling intrusion into the soul of a damaged individual. I aviod reading these books are when i read them I am making that person re-tell their story with ll the pain spilling out onto me.
I feel that their is a prurient streak about in the book markets that want to read these books and one has to question the motive of anyone who does.
Instead support the organisations that seek to support the victims of child abuse in all its horrific forms...and pray for peace in their lives.

Isn't it a bit like financially molesting the victim to profit from the retelling? Yet, is there a value to this kind of book in terms of shrieking out the horrors to the world? Does its being so graphic exist as pornography or is it trying to tell us straightforwardly the hideous and sickening debasement of the victim, hoping we will revamp social institutions...get tougher on parents who are predators...I think if it is written for the shock value of getting America moving on this and proceeds went to reputable organizations who work with violated children and into a fund for the child to fund medical needs, etc. To establish outstanding treatment facilities for victims and their families to work through this and salvage something from the wreckage, you get the idea, then that is altogether a horse of a different color. The reason most rape victims do not press charges and perpetrators go free is that people do not want to go through it and they certainly do not want to put children through it. Yet, the child does go through it...over and over and over. I do not know the answer and I have only these thoughts and questions. This story is very personal with me and I think it poses much food for thought and really good discussion on the pros/cons and a great deal more information than we have here. I can't say it is "definitely" right or wrong without more factual information. Interesting and vital topic. Thank you!

So much has gone wrong. Things need to change, in a positive way for that change. The sooner, the better.
One can start by not supporting the "newest movie available" either at the video stores and/or making the purchase.
If one must watch tv (I don't), choose the more positive programming, not that thriller killer on the hunt for that bad thing. Get the trash out of your mind will not only help you, but will also radiate that to others.
Change for the positive.
