The coverage not only tells us something about how people will view the candidates, it also tells us something about the media and the parties themselves

Abstinence-only educators

Both Sarah Palin and John McCain back abstinence-only education. No surprises there.

What’s galling is this: When the subject is a pregnancy to an unwed, minority teenage mother growing up in some (presumably Democratic) urban area, that pregnancy becomes fodder for lectures from conservatives about bad parenting, the perils of welfare spending and so on. But when the subject is a pregnancy to an unwed, white teenager from some small town in a Republican state, that pregnancy is…a celebration of the wonders of God’s magnificence–and choosing life!

Erik,do you ever drive or ride in a car? Do you have electricity in your home? Bet you have items with plastics in them. So you youself are very much dependent on oil. The entire American economy is based on oil. Energy alternatives will not be avaiable to 20 years or more.

For someone who is so educated, you don't seem to know much at all.

Michelle Obama has a powerful $261,000 job and made $96,000 serving on several boards, while still travelling extensively to campaign for B. Hussein. Obamasama travels over 200 days a year campaigning then spens some time in Washington too. So who is raising the Obama children? Certainly not their mother or father.

Get a life folks. The Obamas are terrible parents who put their careers above their kids.

America's dependency on oil was brought up as an issue of national security in the 70's...When McCain first began serving in the Senate, and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! We have wasted all this time and now our situation is more urgent. Why would you want to continue this trend?!?

It sounds like you would rather waste billions of taxpayers money in offshore drilling which wouldn't have even a modest impact for at least twenty years. If so, then McCain/Palin is your ticket to retaining our dependency on oil and thus the status quot. Even Big Oil himself, T. Boone Pickens has come out and said this is a "worthless plan".

We need to stop our dependency on oil. Obviously this will not happen overnight. Energy alternatives are already available, just not in the large scale that is needed which is largely due to underfunding. Thanks to the likes of Bush, McCain, Cheney for averting funding when it was largely needed.

The United States is indeed an oil-based society and economy, and the problem is not the absolute dependence oil but our dependence of 'foreign' produce oil, this could have been remedied earlier if congress (controlled by democrats) had approved new drilling which is a better, and quicker. solution to vehicles that are powered by electricity, and vegtables.

Oil came up as a national security issue during the Yom Kippur War (during the Carter administration) when John Mc Cain was still in the Navy.

Btw way 'wiz' Mc McCain was first elected to political office on November 2, 1982.

The issue is not just foreign oil. It's our dependence on oil period. It's very obvious that oil is a Very finite resource and it's very unrealistic to think we can rid our dependency on oil by just drilling.

John McSame has been part of this oil driven administration for 26 years and has done absolutely NOTHING.

Do you want to see nuclear powered cars Erik?

With no government funding, car manufacturers and individuals have developed hybrids, fuel cell, cars run by solar, and even cars run on trash. The technology is there but such an extreme shift in energy policy requires a president that is not bogged down by the same old methods.

Oil lobbyists have been fighting this change. It's very refreshing to see an oil giant like T. Boone Pickens come out publicly and say offshore drilling is a sham with little to no benefits for Americans.

p.s.Did the media take swipes at Sarah Palin? Well, is the Pope Catholic?!? Yes, they took swipes at her, still are, and most likely they will continue to. I no longer have much trust in the MSM. The highly ethical reporters seem to be vanishing before my eyes. This is a sad situation, but it is also a bad situation for those who cherish fairness to all.
