Thank you for posting this, Susty! Awareness is an absolute necessity.

When one thinks, we share the same world, live on the same planet...Shameful!

It must be time to tackle such issues REALLY rationally collectively, that is, to urgently provide the needies with the necessary tools for self efficiency, then embrace a resource based economy, centred on responsibility, sustainability, environmental balance and a world wide, democratic(applying to each and all), scientific and rigorously minitored birth control.
Human dignity is at stake.

Thanks for sharing, indeed.

It is crime that so may people are hungry.
What can we do about it.

Thanks Susty!

Given the current global economic crisis it is scarcely surprising that over a billion people go hungry every day. I am astonished the figure is not larger.

Just Carole

I believe you are right awareness is vital, unfortunately awareness does not always translate into action.

One thing the USA might do to help is pay the $1.6bn it owes the UN.

Something we can all do is donate a bit more to organisations such as the Red Cross/Crescent, and keep an eye open for our friends and neighbours who might be having trouble but don't tell us.

Given the US tent cities I've seen on my television there must be lots of Americans going hungry these days. If it's bad in the wealthiest nation state on the planet think what it must be like in, say, Mali.
