The dramatic proliferation of jellyfish in oceans around the world, driven by overfishing and climate change, is a sure sign of ecosystems out of kilter, warn experts.

Just like the monkeys, reindeer and elephants escaping zoos. Hmm, me thinks they're trying to tell us something.

Frankly, I think the "great" nations of the world are playing russian roulett with our atmosphere by using weapons of weather warfare - HAARP. if this is the case then it could explain alot. See an article at Whatdoesitmean.com for more on this. Makes sense, even though I don't always agree with her. lol!

THanks Patti and noted.

I grew up on Long Island Sound. For many years the water was crystal clear - so clean you could walk out as far as you could without being underwater and see clear to the bottom - nothing but sand, a few rocks and small stones, the occasional school of tiny fish, horseshoe crabs and clean green seaweed. After a few years, my brothers got impetigo from swimming in the sound. Then the water got cloudy; then the jellyfish multiplied and the horseshoe crabs disappeared. When will the powers that be (and shouldn't be!) learn that if we kill our oceans, our earth will die?

I like jellyfish, maybe they'll take the world over.

No, this change is not a good sign.

Soon many of us will be telling the
other half of humanity "I told you so."

How helpless we are, like netted birds,
when we are caught by desire!

There are signs of Nature being way out of sync ALL OVER, ice melting, forests dissappearing, mercury in the air and food, etc.,etc.,etc.and yet almost everybody goes off to "work" everyday oblivious because the TV says everything is okay, well sort of. Or they are waiting for their Gov't to do something while they eat toxic food and talk on their toxic cellphone watching Starsearch or whatever that show is. WAKE UP !!!!!! I have been studying the situation for 15 months now, this gov't and other Gov'ts have barely done anything, except talk and finally admit there is a environmental problem. The only change that is going to help is if WE change OUR LIFESTYLES and spread the word, OUR GOV"T IS BROKEN< FACE IT NOW B4 ITS TOO LATE! RESERCH< THINK , take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY of YOUR LIFE and for heavens sake don't let the fear they promote get you, its what they thrive on. Thx Patti!!!!!!

Global warming is only one symptom of an ever increasing problem, Chris. That problem being man's overburdening the Earth with his wants, needs and waste!

I do not think this is 'global warming' I think it is more the problem of over fishing.

I, as a kid growing up on Long Beach Island New Jersey between mid August and early September, we wouldn't be able to swim due to all the jelly fish. Then they started to come eariler and eariler each year. That was cause they over fished and depleted the Blue Fish by over fishing. Now the Island of Long Beach has restrictions on how much Blue Fish fishing you can do off their shores.

quote from the story...
But just how many millions, or billions, of jellyfish roam the seas is nearly impossible to know, said scientists.

I said the samething before I read this story. Our oceans are our least known territory. This isn't because climate change it is because of man over fishing in our oceans.

HI Boty thanx for your comment. I think it is a culmination of factors/events causing this and all of the changes we are seeing.
