Five major palm oil companies - notorious for destroying large areas of rainforest to make room for their palm oil plantations - have agreed to hold a 12 month moratorium on deforestation while an environmental impact study is being conducted.

I'm amazed that this has occurred, this is defnitely indicative of the type of positive corporate action that we want to see when we pressure companies to do the right thing.

That's a great start! Here's hoping the study is honest and proves the case against palm oil plantations that require deforestation to exist.
