We must create a culture where it is safe and supported to tell the truth about our government's activities. We must encourage more people to have the courage to reveal what they know about the murder, torture and corruption committed in our name.

Please sign the petition:

“We call on you to stop the crackdown on WikiLeaks and its partners immediately. We urge you to respect democratic principles and laws of freedom of expression and freedom of the press. If WikiLeaks and the journalists it works with have violated any laws they should be pursued in the courts with due process. They should not be subjected to an extra-judicial campaign of intimidation.”

Quotes from the website:

“The vicious intimidation campaign against WikiLeaks is a dangerous attack on freedom of expression and the press. Top US politicians have branded WikiLeaks a terrorist organization, and urged corporations to shut it down. Commentators have even suggested assassinating its staff”

“Whatever we think of WikiLeaks, legal experts say it has likely broken no laws, and the group works with leading newspapers (NYT, Guardian, Spiegel) to carefully vet what it publishes - so far less than 1% of the cables leaked to it.”

“We urgently need a massive public outcry to defend our basic democratic freedoms. Sign the petition to stop the crackdown -- let's reach 1 million voices this week!-“

Over 300,000 signed the petition in 24 hours! Over 431,000 have signed so far.

Send it to your friends.

To mirror-site Wiki-leaks:

This is an attempt to mirror the information posted on WikiLeaks so that in case WikiLeaks comes down the information doesn't.

For general information: (amongst many other mirror sites!)
VPRO is a Dutch national media transmission which I find very reliable.

@ wolf , sure go ahead and encourage Americans to commit treason. is espionage when you publish stolen articals that aid the enemy during war time, we are at war make no mistake about it. Certain things that were published can potentially cuase the loss of innocent ,look at what is being published before you start cheer leading.Id treason when you try to aid them. get some advice from your attorney and see if you really want this disruption in your life.

Thomas, do you even know what the leaks were? We are told they MAY put people in danger but isn't that what they always say when something comes out they don't want us to know? Don't they always scream "national security" when their lies and plots are disclosed? When it comes to power and money, people will lie, cheat, steal and murder - do you think they should be protected under the guise of "security" - is it really treason to divulge things that are hurting us more than helping us? Carole has it right - be informed or be enslaved.

Treason is the only crime defined by the US constitution...I don't believe WikiLeaks is guilty....

No theyare guilty of expionage to br guilty of treson it must be againt the country you are a citizen of.@ Arielle S. yes I do the one major leak which by itself is enough. If the reporting of sensitive potential terrorist targets that would have a major impact if targeted as an attack subject, This action let the enemy know what we are paying attention to.It allows them to pick the softer targets we make not be paying as much attention to.Or iy gives them I deas they may have no thought of yet. might as well send them a how to manual. This iformation leaked out is potentialt life threatening to each and every one of us and a loved ones. I really do not need any more than that. I have a real problem with some austrailian jeapordizing my countries security. you should also.

Where is the coruption in the government knowing what targets to protect in order to protect civilian life? Why is a small pox vaxine manufactuer disclosed to the pub;ic as a sensitive target. or the canadian electric grids that supplt the entire east coast with energy. how is this fighting coruption.please tell me and ill shut up.

Thomas....the leaks show crimes by our and other governments.

But apparently you don't have an issue with that.

Sue, Keep trying ti sing the petition, it's in the key of "F" (for Freedom! Hahaha)

Everyone....thanks for noting, posting other petitions etc, as most everyone here understand real caring and patriotism means making sure those we employ are kept in check, and these leaks (among so many other facts) show they are out to carry through with their own agenda and that is not classified nor can iot be classified. Trying to classify illegal behavior is covering up crimes.

Even Holden admits that no one died because of WikiLeaks.

BTW, nobody mentioned that The New York Times, The Guardian and Der Spiegel are publishing the same cables. Shall they be prosecuted as well?
