TV is the Master who controls what you think, believe, live by. A feel good in deception to your reality of who you truly are! Living in a dream like state of illusions, desensitizing your senses in where killing takes place in the other part of world.

Using fear and the threat of insecurity to manipulate the people, corporate media, in bed with government, over the years having become the mouthpiece of government control, unleashes a barrage of propaganda, in images and pro-war commentators, to arouse in the population the false sense of security that justifies military action. This way, debate is silenced and dissent is disappeared on the airwaves as once again the corporate media, the gatekeepers of information, allow us only to see and hear the point of view they want us to incorporate into our psyche. Voices of reason and of intelligence are ignored, banished from imparting important thoughts of wisdom, thus making it virtually impossible for the population to ever know there are other options besides the horror of war.

With corporate anchors, journalists, reporters, commentators and executives pushing into our homes an exclusively pro-war, jingoistic viewpoint, blitzkrieging us with their propaganda-laced images and opinion, over months of constant threats of fear and insecurity, denying the public from ever seeing or hearing truths and realities, it therefore becomes rather easy, with a population addicted to television viewing, to mobilize a nation for war. With the marriage of government and corporate power, truth disappears just as much as falsity prospers. With both entities profiting from the spoils of war, it is in each other's best interest to work together to disseminate the seeds that will invariably spawn the rebirth of a dormant war culture.

Once again the system is at work, knowing how easy it is to control the minds of a dumbed down population that has been well trained, and some might say socially engineered, to never question authority, never think outside the box, never seek accountability and never think for itself. Easily manipulated, millions of people are conditioned to believe, from a very early age, that anything emanating from television is sacrosanct. Thus, everything they watch is reality and anything they hear is truth. Anchors and reporters become trusted personalities voicing reticent opinions whose veracity are seldom, if ever, questioned.

It is designed to manipulate and control at once, transforming the population into a sedentary herd of sheeple who never question what is told them. Over the years millions of citizens have used this most dangerous drug to escape lives of frustration, unhappiness, desperation, depression and loneliness, never realizing that with every hour they watch, with every show they are glued to, with every channel they surf their minds are turned to mush, becoming conduits of ignorance, molded into muscles in desperate need of gossip and sensationalism, no longer thinking for itself.

The Establishment has perfected its machination of propaganda, creating the realities it wants into society, forming whatever truth that will be of the greatest benefit, not to society, but to itself. Whatever reality it wants to create and disseminate is quickly absorbed by a population eager to feed off the mammary glands of television. The Establishment, the corporate world and government have for years told us how and what to think, how to act, who to obey and where to follow, condemning our minds to obedience, our lives to conformism and silent acquiescence.

Life is full of choices, and the choices we make are a reflection of our character, from what color of pants to wear, what we eat, what we say, how we interact with others to what we read or watch in TV. We must learn to draw the line on what we are told to believe to what we believe is right believing. A good example is when we watch the news when kids shoot others at school because they wanted to do and be what it was in some movie!!?
Really? Why? I remember seeing bad things on TV since I was a child and never believe for instance that killing was right, never the less went and kill someone. The choices are mine into what I want to believe as child until now as an adult. Some people believe everything they see because they don't want to bother investigating/exploring for the truth. Politics, religion, society all apply to this, and the very simple principle is learn to use our brains, keep learning, and make the right choices.
Thank you dear Henriette an other good post. :)

You cannot currently send a star to Genoveva because you have done so within the last week. I so agree Genoveva with everything you stated. I grew up on a farm & we did not have electricity so TV was not an option which turns out to be a blessing, To this day I still do not watch it, I read much & I learned many types of crafts, pretty much anything, I learned to live simply & grow organic gardens & appreciate true friendship. To me this has value beyond anything else.

Calle's link is a much, "must read"; I copied just a portion here to give you an idea but it is essential that you take the time to read it all.
In layman’s terms, this device, this “Sound of Silence”simply allows for the unwarranted implantation of specific thoughts, emotions, and even prescribed physical actions into unsuspecting human beings.
In short, it has the very real ability to turn human beings into mere puppets in the hands of certain “controllers”or puppet-masters. Eisenhower knew full well what such a “weapon” could do in the hands of greedy, conspiring men and women scheming to control the planet. It could easily result in the takeover of American society without a single bullet being fired. Please do read it in full. Thanks you.

In 2009 WHO declared a flu pandemic and our government has purchased 1.6 million vaccines
,which have never been used. Why?Because it never has been a pandemic ,everything was just misleading and lies. The main reason was money.Pharmaceutical companies(GlaxoSmithKline,Novartis ...) earned billions .
Due to the tuberculosis every year dies 1.6 million people.

Unless you are watching an excellent movie, documentary etc etc, being a couch potato is detrimental for your health (lack of exercise) for your mind (you are being brain washed and lied to) for your spirit (your connection to spirit becomes corroded and your heart is heavy) your relationships (there is no time left to nurture your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends) Minimizing the hours in front of your T.V will improve your state of mind and "truth" is available anywhere but on that t.v. screen.

Maybe we should call an other global day into life:
Kick-Your-Enemy-Out-Of-The-Window-Day - your enemy in your living room.

Today, our flat screens getting bigger and bigger like our vehicles.
What a great living standard - but what do we lose?
We lose community, spiritualty, knowledge - what else could you do than sitting before the brainwasher?

The world is upside down, doctors destroy health, media destroys wisdom, churches destroy spirituality...

Operation Mockingbird: CIA Manipulation of the Media
The CIA is the President's secret army, who have been and continue to be conveniently above the law with unlimited power and authority, to conduct a reign of terror around the globe.

The "old boy network" of socializing, talking shop, and tapping each other for favors outside the halls of government made it inevitable that the CIA and Corporate America would become allies, thus the systematic infiltration and takeover of the media.

Intuitively, for over three years ago. I just totally stopped watching TV. Just stopped. Began to write, read more again. Why on earth watching "talking heads" in my home, talking betw. themselves? Even though there do exist great documentaries & movies. Rather keep in touch with humans via net, phone calls, face to face etc.
Thank you, Henriettte.

That scene fro the movie "Network" is classic and one of my favorites. It is definitely a tale of truth and really ought to affect all of us by urging us to look deeper into the messages that come to us via such an apparatus as Television.

But let's also realize it is also true of THE INTERNET. All of our shining screens that sit inches in front of our faces are capable of doing the same things. So let's not sit back in the safety of our computers and think we're OK. We're not. There is much hypnosis going on.

I think the worst influence does not come from the shows that this video emphasized, though... the Fox News shows, the CNN news shows, etc., etc., are perhaps the least of our problems. Those are pretty easy for us to spot what we consider lies, I think. It's the sit-coms showing the inane dumb-ass parents raising inane dumb-ass kids. It's the myriad of cops and robbers and lawyers shows that throw violent images in front of us all the time until individual lives have no value. it's the "reality" shows that appeal to the lowest common emotions that humans have. It's all of the "innocuous" shows that are really ruining our sense of ourselves and the greater purposes in our lives. It is sitting in front of a box, whether Tv or computer, that has robbed us of our higher sensibilities and ability to interact successfully in the real world.

And let's be sure not to blame it on the Republicans. It's all of us who have contributed to this phenomenon and it's all of us who are affected by what has become of this techno society. It is now up to us to figure out individually how we want to combat this monster that is amongst us. Because it's growing and growing and growing.

Thanks, H. for the article. Definitely worth thinking about.

I asked my cable provider Verizon and Cox if I could only get internet service. I was told it would cost me more to only get internet service than it would if I get their so-called "bundle" of all three (phone, internet, and TV). These companies are part of the brainwashing. I am so close to throwing my TV in the thrash can for good.

'I am gross and perverted, obsessed and deranged.
I have existed for years but very little has changed.
I'm the tool of the government and industry too,
For I am destined to rule and regulate you.
I may be vile and pernicious but you can't look away.
I make you think I'm delicious with the stuff that I say.
I'm the best you can get, have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozing out from your TV set!
You will obey me while I lead you, eat the garbage that I feed you
Til the day that we don't need you. Don't go for help, no-one will heed you.
Your mind is totally controlled, it has been stuffed into my mould,
And you will do as you are told until the rights to you are sold!

(That's right folks, don't touch that dial!)

'I am the slime from the video!
Oozin' along on your livingroom floor!
I am the slime from the video!
Can't stop teh slime, people, look at me go!'

I got away from watching any TV when I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2010 and haven't watched any since. It's actually so great not to watch it anymore as I use to find I'd waste hours on the tube and have nothing to show for it.

I do admit that there are a few good programs on TV about science, The Discovery Chanel, etc., but most of it is just brainless fluff. Sadly, it could be used much more for the sake of promoting love, compassion, intelligence, community, and other aspects of a united, healthy, society, but instead it's mostly used to display more and more violence and abuse.

Tuesday February 28, 2012, 11:35 am
Remember when all media was free except the telephone? Now we are propagandized, our children shown violence, sex, and just as much advertisement as "programming". The most agregious part of it is we have to pay for it.

Then you wonder why a drug addict like Rush Limbaugh can command's millions of dollars a year salary. Then you have the liberal bookends on the left like Rachel Maddow, Ed, and the rest of the MSNBC crew who pays good cop to Fox's bad cop. They are useless. Meanwhile we the people suffer in lose jobs, lost homes, and lost government.

Dylan Ratigan appear to be the only talking head that tries to raise constructive issues. But his pushing of disaster capitalism doesn't sit well with me. Link TV is alright. How did we the people get so screwed? Everywhere you turn, some elite is trying to screw you.

I watch TV very carefully, because I know what it can do. Think of all the crime tales, the plot can be quite "good", but what do we get ? The police / government always wins. I feel suffocated with all the junk we get from American TV; as if we're in good old Europe haven't got our own lifestyle. When it comes to the News, I make sure not to watch CNN, or BBC only, but certainly Al Jazeera (english), too - to be able to get another point of view, and when it comes to Europe I watch Dutch (NL and B), and some German TV, too. (I refuse to watch "FOX News").
What ever happened to MTV ? This is an example of trash. At the beginning it was cool - but now ? Most of it is mainstream. (The only thing I do like nowadays is "SOUTHPARK").
People who are against war are simply not reflected on TV, this has to change ! I hope that the OWS will get big enough, worldwide, they are beyond the point of being "just a crazy minority", more and more people speak up.....the media should listen carefully (!).

Tuesday February 28, 2012, 6:44 pm
As for the defense of my client the TV, please allow me this question. Especially as I relish my role as a devil’s advocate and as I defend from harm this lifeless electronic box full of wires, and transistors, which only comes to alive whenever it is plugged in. Now please tell me, who on earth controls the remote control with its nice, shiny, power on and off button, and then has the cheek to say, that they are being controlled? Lol!

At the time that TV didn't exist people read books. They had more imagination and intellectuality, they could express with eloquence and had time to do many things that someone that dedicates hours for T.V. programs looses (sports, making new friends, taking a romantic walk etc)
Man is a thinking animal and as one needs the best spiritual food which cannot be provided by The Box, only in extraordinary cases it can, instead other sources like family reunions, pets, friends, music, books, art, activism and many more can make us better persons, with personality and joy for life.

I would like to add that nobody should be afraid to press the button and put the TV out of his personal life. Unless you are very young or you have a mental illness that affects the part of your brain where you understand things and the part where you think or you live somewhere where you have zero access to facts and reality you only have yourself to blame for believing propaganda and lies! I watch a lot of television, I do not have a high intelligence, I did not go far in school and I have depression but all of that do not stop me from not believing crap and nobody can manipulate me.
