We can do the same thing ourselves. Ever notice how you can hear a sound better if you cup your ears with your hands? You're reflecting more sound into your ears.

This is how those parabolic sound reflectors work - you see them at football games. Bird naturalists use the reflectors to both amplify the bird call and eliminate other noise.
