Discovered a process whereby tumor cells become resistant to certain drugs. Potential to significantly influence the manner in which anti-cancer drugs are administered, as well as the development of a way to reverse the spread of cancerous growth.

"Karni and his colleagues developed molecules that are capable of transforming the cancerous form of the Mnk2 enzyme back into its normal form. This conversion allows the cancerous form of the enzyme to become sensitive to stress and to the absorption of anti-cancer drugs"

That is amazing that they were able to figure out that there are two versions of this enzyme AND develop a molecule which turns it back to its normal form AND make the cancerous form sensitive to anti-cancer drugs. This is brilliant.

I'm guessing that it also sounds like this approach will mean less of the horrible type of side-effects we normally see with chemotherapeutic approaches that don't have "advance men" making the chemotherapy's job that much more simple, and probably needing less of it.

Thanks, David.

Noted, shared, tweeted and tumblr'd. A week ago, a report on breast cancer inroads and now this. Will Israel be the ones to solve the horrible puzzle of cancer? It certainly looks that way! Thanks, David, for all articles. So exciting, isn't it?!

I do hope this doesn't take years to get to the market, although of course everything has to be carefully tested. Israel does it again!
