A new Saudi TV series created by a popular comedian, Nasser al-Qasabi, mocks ISIS and religious extremists. The title is Selfie, and it pokes fun at mindless militants who are interested only in sex and violence.

The desription seems to have vanished :>(
So here is what I'd put ...

A new Saudi TV series created by a popular comedian, Nasser al-Qasabi, mocks ISIS and religious extremists. The title is Selfie, and it pokes fun at mindless militants who are interested only in sex and violence.

In the Arab World, humour and satire can be very powerful weapons. This certainly isn't under-estimated by the extremists ... as demonstrated by the death threats received by Al Qasabi.

But maybe he has also created a chink in the armour of the militant Imams, too?

But does not the wahhabism militant interpretation of Islam, which spawned both al-Qaeda and ISIS, derive from Saudi Arabia?
I think it is inconceivable that the militants will not, one day, want to fly their flag over Mecca, Medina and Riyadh.

Why the "But", John? Who suggests that ISIS wouldn't want to take control of Saudi ....
All the more reason for Saudis to tackle ISIS/Daesh & other extremisms in any way they can - including satire.

The Saudis let the genie out of the bottle, that's my point. The 'genie' will very likely return to destroy them.

Satire seems to be a pretty good weapon, when you have people so Fundamentally up their backside. I like the cartoons we've seen of Muhammad, and think what happened at Charlie Hebdo despicable, but a main part of it was that Fundamentalist Muslims hate their prophet and Alla being ridiculed.
