Stand with us! Today we're in the Federal Court, aiming to strike out Adani's dodgy land use deal over our country. Because when we say 'No' we mean 'No'. It's our responsibility to protect the Country of our ancestors. We will not surrender

Friends,

We are underway in our legal battle to strike out Adani’s fake ‘Indigenous Land Use Agreement’.

In an extraordinary turn of events, Attorney General George Brandis intervened in our Federal Court hearing on Thursday to advantage Adani, asking the judge to delay our strike-out application.

The Attorney General chose to cross the line between the Parliament and the Courts solely in Adani’s interests, and showed just how willing the Government is to take away our rights. They will stop at nothing.

This fight is big. Please watch and share our video, and donate when you can to our Defence of Country Fund.

Without this ‘land deal’ being registered, Adani can’t move ahead. And right now, they have nowhere to go without the assistance of the Federal Parliament.

We have a knockout punch, but Brandis and the Federal Government are doing everything they can to stop us from throwing it.

The good news is, we are now underway with legal proceedings, and Adani and the Queensland Government are in our sights.

At the very least they will be tied up for many months in litigation and will not have an ILUA to proceed with. And we can win this.

Adani did not negotiate and achieve our free, prior and informed consent. And we have four strong legal grounds against Adani’s pretend ILUA.

As the law stands, Adani do not have a document that could even be considered legal. This is why the Turnbull government has been in hyperdrive trying to push the ‘Adani amendments’ through the Senate.

But now, in an act of extraordinary political interference, Brandis has reached into the court to intervene in our case and delay the proceeding.

This puts beyond doubt that Brandis and the Turnbull Government, backed all the way by Queensland’s Palaczszuk Government, are working in billionaire Adani’s interests. Again, they are making Native Title - and Traditional Owners rights - all about Adani’s coal mine.

They are unrelenting in their support for the Carmichael project. But so are we in our determination to defend our country and safeguard the future from this mine of mass destruction.

We will not surrender. No means no, Adani.

Stand with us as we fight these corrupting and destructive influences, and protect our ancestral lands and waters.

Thank you for your generous and strong support.

Please stay with us and donate when you can to assist with our court battle.

I truly hope they win at every step. This is the same crap they've been doing to our Native people in the USA. I hope it doesn't turn out the same as happened over here. Part of why there was a Wounded Knee II was also based on land grabs that the Corporate wanted to mine and such.

The Traditional Native people didn't want the mining done on the lands, said it was not wanted, they didn't want the water ruined, their medicine plants destroyed, the local animals disrupted, just stay away was the message. Same deal, divide the tribal people among themselves, so some would sign their name as there had to be 2/3 of the tribe to sign in agreement.

The youth of their day stepped up, to speak about their rights as human beings, as tribal people, of many ongoing injustices, we had the likes of Russell Means, John Trudell, and Dennis Banks who is the only one now alive, and he ran for President against Trump and Hillary. If he'd been on my ballot I would have given him equal consideration along with Jill Stein.

AIM was the young people and the Traditional Indians at the time were the few families that had hung on to their traditional ways, also the Elders. AIM sat with the Elders and the Traditional families and had their history learned, took their heritage back after years of boarding schools abuses, learned about traditional ways, song, medicines, relationship to the lands, the animals, the environment overall. I suspect that these people have had to continue on those teachings with their children as I recall Australia also removed them to go into boarding schools and live among the whites. Like in the USA taking their children against their will, fostering them out in one manner or another.

BIA had already come in to split the tribal people, setting up just enough jobs for "some" of them to do well. Those families that had become the 'hang around the fort Indian" from way back tended to keep being the one's rewarded, many had intermarried with non Indians, the Traditional families were not given all of the financial rewards but stayed true to their ways, hunting on the land, using the plants to heal themselves, or raising a few crops.

So money started to get passed around, when the mining companies still couldn't get 2/3 signatures they began to terrorize the Traditional people. This is when AIM began to protect and help the Traditionals and the Elders. During this time frame that area became the highest in murders within the entire Country and many murders of Indian people have not been solved, but they threw Leonard Peltier behind bars forever as he too was an AIM member.

If you don't think these Corporate types will get rough, it's happened before, thanks to social media what took place at the Dakota Access, although bad would have been worse had the world not been watching so closely. Those people have already experienced worse, over and over again. So I wish these people all the best, but I don't kid myself to their bravery in Australia not with these Corporate types breathing down their necks.

Oh Dear.........now I am a frog without friends.......again.....such an insult C2......after all the years..that I have dedicated to this Site......but I suppose I should count my blessings......that I didn't end up like Zen or Mutiny..... but I don't.......what is even more sad is that C2 at the end of the day........couldn't live up to it's Founder

I have felt the same way Ros, about not living up to it's Founder. A real shame, and so many dedicated and loyal members who at the end of the day were treated with disrespect. There is no need for the way things operate on here. Other websites can manage to keep things running more smoothly so I'm not sure what is situation on here. One would think that loyal members would count for something but it doesn't seem to be.

Care2 is being generous to me at the moment and I thank them so much for that....Victoria P I also thank you for posting that Petition...it is the first time this "Mob" and I can say that with affection and without insult....they have taken to "mainstreammedia"" and it was the highest rating in signatures that the communityrun.com had ever got......huge support keep it coming....as they say here "it's not over until the fat lady sings"....... no offense hopefully to anyone........but this Movement started back in the 1970's and we did have a Politician on our side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_ndC07C2qw

Then we had Regime Change...........

Glad Ros managed to get in here for once! All too often her access doesn't work :>(

The song she shared fits perfectly (here's a live link ... I hope!)
Paul Kelly - From Little Things Big Things Grow

Gather round people ill tell you a story
An eight year long story of power and pride
British Lord Vestey and Vincent Lingiari
Were opposite men on opposite sides

Vestey was fat with money and muscle
Beef was his business, broad was his door
Vincent was lean and spoke very little
He had no bank balance, hard dirt was his floor

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

Gurindji were working for nothing but rations
Where once they had gathered the wealth of the land
Daily the pressure got tighter and tighter
Gurindju decided they must make a stand

They picked up their swags and started off walking
At Wattie Creek they sat themselves down
Now it don't sound like much but it sure got tongues talking
Back at the homestead and then in the town

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

Vestey man said I'll double your wages
Eighteen quid a week you'll have in your hand
Vincent said uhuh we're not talking about wages
We're sitting right here till we get our land
Vestey man roared and Vestey man thundered
You don't stand the chance of a cinder in snow
Vince said if we fall others are rising

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

Then Vincent Lingiari boarded an aeroplane
Landed in Sydney, big city of lights
And daily he went round softly speaking his story
To all kinds of men from all walks of life

And Vincent sat down with big politicians
This affair they told him is a matter of state
Let us sort it out, your people are hungry
Vincent said no thanks, we know how to wait

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

Then Vincent Lingiari returned in an aeroplane
Back to his country once more to sit down
And he told his people let the stars keep on turning
We have friends in the south, in the cities and towns

Eight years went by, eight long years of waiting
Till one day a tall stranger appeared in the land
And he came with lawyers and he came with great ceremony
And through Vincent's fingers poured a handful of sand

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

That was the story of Vincent Lingiari
But this is the story of something much more
How power and privilege can not move a people
Who know where they stand and stand in the law

From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow
From little things big things grow

Dandelion & Ros -Yes, I share sorrow & frustration with recent developments on Care2.
I've been a member since 1999, and have really appreciated being part of the community. But over the last couple of years, we've been increasingly DISCOURAGED from being active - at one stage, Care2 encouraged members to share responsibility in the managing of the community. Feedback & Suggestions was a discussion group in which we were invited to put forward constructive suggestions, & also point out where there were hiccups & bugs. A few months ago, I was "suspended" for constructive suggestions (that Care2 do what they used to do: close for maintenance & sort out the multiple hiccups that have been - and still are - causing frustration of members). That suspension has apparently been converted into a ban, as I've been refused membership of the group now - NO explanation.

I miss the "newsletters" such as Dandelion's Seeds, & Lona's "Fridays" - hard hit by technical blocks because of the way hiccups affect posting, & revisions in easy messaging. I miss seeing Ros' comments - often she can't get IN. I also miss others who've given up on Care2 because it is such an effort ...

Evelyn, you won't get an explanation from CARE2 or Eric. . . I've had exactly the same treatment from them, after applying several times over time. What makes matters worse, is that there is usually no Tech support available over the weekend, so any issues, we end up flagging, then waiting. . .

I also miss Dandelion's Seeds, although Dandelion has managed to get a version of it out to us recently, but without those much appreciated hyperlinks and MEMES.
