A huge national day of action, bringing together people united in the fact that building one of the world's biggest coal mines near the Great Barrier Reef is an environmental, social, and financial disaster

I fully agree, Kathleen.

They're managing to get their set-up costs in Australia covered partly by the tax payer - while in India they're shifting to providing renewable energy ... because India's cutting back on coal mega-projects.

And if that trend continues (as it probably will), Adani won't find it economically viable to keep up their side of the agreements in Australia - they'll back out, leaving a mucked up GBR, a destroyed landscape with the Carmichael mine, an enlarged port - with no employment & no on-going income to the Australian government, just lost tax-payers' money and lost natural heritage - & betrayed Australian people.

I can think of many ways to spend a billion dollars that would actually benefit the environment and not wreck the GBR. I hope the many petitions I have signed have the desired effect of stopping this disaster.
