VICTORIA'S major animal welfare agencies are pushing councils to make the desexing of cats compulsory as more than 500,000 stray and feral cats prowl and starve on our streets. Eight councils have already agreed to make desexing compulsory from 2008-09.

I never heard it put quite that way but it definitely WILL cut down on the cat population. Males are cheaper and easier to neuter because unlike the females-humans also-there's so much more to take out. LOL Thanks Chrissy, best of luck with it and more power to Australia!! I've wanted to be an Aussie all me life especially when I fell in love with Steve-O (Irwin).
