Chrissy, thank you for submitting this story, I am yet to understand this disease that I believe is capitalized by pharmaceutical companies. I will do more research so that I can contribute my opinion for myself and the well being of others. In the mean time, if you have the times please review the following article provided in the link below. I have not read it all but I wanted to pass this on to you first to see what you think. I hope others read this also. Quote' we are neither kangaroo’s nor rats'...................................................................................................

My apologies for the above quote, I did not intend for disrespect to anyone. I know very little about cancer and send my warmest regards to all who are fighting this disease. I do believe that both medical and holistic approach combined can bring about cures, well I pray that they will. Best wishes and peace to you all.

No offence taken Consuelo ... Jeff is my husband. Sadly, when he was dx, we knew nothing about "cancer", other than it affected everyone else, not us. Well, we learnt really fast. The first thing we learn and what 99% of the population don't understand, is that cancer is cancer is cancer is WRONG!

No 2 cancers are the same. We always thought that cancers were named after where they were found and that therefore, Lung was found in Lung and breast was found in Breast and so on, but that it was the one disease. sadly, WRONG again. All cancers are different and all require different treatment. What works for breast won't work for lungs ... and this applies to all of them. Jeff was clever enough to get what at the time, was a rare cancer ... now "upgraded" to "uncommon". Kidney Cancer, correct name, Renal Cell Carcinoma. Because of it's unusual structure, there is no chemotherapy available ... remember, kidneys filter unwanted stuff from our bodies. In the past 3 years, we are slowly getting treatments available that work ... to a degree ... mainly by shrinking the tumours.

Sadly, I now know more about RCC than I have ever wanted to know and know of numerous people who have tried just about every "quack' treatment available. sadly, nothing has worked. Taking supplements seems to really assist ... Jeff takes Selenium and Grape Seed daily and meditation. Thankfully, he has only had one major setback with a secondary tumour (met) to his lung and he had to lose part of his lung to remove it.

This is another misconception people have. When this met appeared, everyone was asad that he now had Lung cancer ... WRONG again. These mets come from the primary cancer site and will consist of cells from the site of that primary cancer. pathology confirmed that the met was made up from RCC.

So if you hear of someone ... there was a lady on "Enough Rope" a while back ... who had started with Breast cancer and Andrew Denton kept saying that she had all these NEW cancers. She didn't. poor lass had mets from her Breast cancer ... but he said quote "ANDREW DENTON: So, in summation, you've had breast cancer, liver cancer, possibly lung cancer, cancer in the spine? ". he didn't correct him, just agreed with him and so the misconception is perpetuated.

There are over 200 different types of cancer. You can develop cancer in any body organ. There are over 60 different organs in the body where you can get a cancer.

Each organ is made up of several different tissue types. For example, there is usually a surface covering of skin or epithelial tissue. Underneath that there will be some connective tissue, often containing gland cells. Underneath that there is often a layer of muscle tissue and so on. Each type of tissue is made up of specific types of cells. Cancer can develop in just about any type of cell in the body. So there is almost always more than one type of cancer that can develop in any one organ. Often though, one type of cancer will be much more common in a particular organ.

For example, there are living cells called squamous cells and gland cells called adenomatous cells in the lungs. So you can have squamous cell cancer of the lung and also adenocarcinoma of the lung.

Similarly, you can have squamous cell cancer or adenocarcinoma of the cervix. Most cervical cancers are squamous cell. But there are more people with adenocarcinoma of the cervix than there used to be.

The primary cancer is where the cancer started. The secondary cancer is where it has spread to.

So, someone who has had breast cancer which has spread to the liver has primary breast cancer and secondary breast cancer in the liver.

This is important because treatment is chosen according to the type of primary cancer. This is because the cancer cells in the liver (in the example above) are actually breast cancer cells. The right treatment would be for breast cancer and not for primary liver cancer.

So this Was Discovered Years Ago But Cause it Was infection Related and Doctors Cannot Accept that infections Can Cure Better than They Can The Did nothing with it.!
Now That They have the GM Tech They are Going to Take Credit for What occurs Naturaly and And Make Billions off of Kangaroo Germs.!
Of Course Anyone Who Attemped to Culture these Bacterias at home Would Probly Suffer the Same Fate as Steven Kurtz (Falsely Accused of BioTerrorism For Growing Relatively Harmless Bacteria as part of an Art Project Cause He Was working out of hi home and when his wife died of a Heart attack Someone Saw his Lab and a Gallery invitation Written in Arabic).!
So For Any Natural Foods Consumers The Best Solution Would Be Well Aged Kangaroo Steaks or Kangaroo Hagis.!

When I was doing my medical training years ago..a Dr was giving Vitamin C vaccines to his Cancer patients...and it was working. Another thing that has always stuck in my mind was my old Prof. always said to be very careful handling "waste' of cancer patients...such as gloves etc and hand maybe we are back on that track here at the UQ. Just my observations....Wishing both Jeff and you well Chrissy and thanks for the post as it is uplifting to Cancer patients to see progress in finding a 'cure'. Australia is way ahead in many of these tests compared to many other countries.........we are indeed lucky living in Qld too (as Jeff and Chrissy do) to have UQ as a top University for Medical Research.

Kim, is hasn't actually said, but i would presume that they are taking from a live gut, as killing the animal would also kill the bacteria. This Uni has one of the biggest veterinary schools in Australia attached to it.

Sadly Ali, Vitamin C in huge doses has in fact found to be a no go as far as a cure. Esther, a personal friend here had (has) breast cancer and apart from the mastectomy, she wanted no further treatment other that alternative ones and lifestyle changes. Amongst her 'treatments" were the mega doses intravenously of Vit. C and she had all the amalgam fillings in her teeth replaced. No red meat, no alcohol, meditation ... but when she thought the pain she was having was a muscle strain, it was found that it had metastasised (spread) to he liver, ribs, spine and pelvis. In the end she had to make a decision as to treatment or sure death, so she has done both the chemo and radiation treatments, finishing 3 months ago and although they haven't disappeared, the tumours haven't grown either ... in fact shrinking a bit.

I have heard about taking precautions for those that have had chemo, as all chemos are poisonous, but not just cancer patients. cancer pe se isn't contagious ... although as an aside, the Tasmanian Devil has a new life threatening disease, which is causing tumours to grow on their faces and is contagious ... and it is a cancer. First kind ever found worldwide.

Yes Chrissy I know this Dr was doing it about 25yrs ago and it wasn't found to be long term or in all cases at all any success....he has sinced passed on himself. I have some funny stories about the huge vet school at UQ...I used to get lost from the roundabout at the main entrance to UQ and skirting the campus to my unit where I shared with some other students...I used to always get lost on the second roundabout and end up inside the Vet School carpark...they got used to me after a while and used to wave to me. I was okay going out it was coming in that confused me and kept turning left instead of right....lo.

Back to these Cancer Researches here in Qld but also Australia wide there are some fantastic advances in many of these cancers...the percentages of survival in so many cancers are going up and we hope they continue to do so....Yes you are right there is a lot of toxin in Chemo and Radiotherapy itself ...say no more. But if I ever needed it I would take the risks...rather than die of cancer without trying to live a long life.
