Faced with a budget deficit in the fiscal year starting July 1, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed cutting state supplemental payments for the elderly and disabled down to the minimum allowed by federal law. It would be their third cut this year.

The people that had claimed to be so great and had been running things... had failed miserably. It is time for new people.. good people.. honest people, with real visions for the people of the USA and the rest of the world as well. There is ALWAYS a solution and it is time to put our best foot forward and make it happen!

It is sad that Schwartzenneger has become a true politician, hit those who are the the most vulnerable in society, their votes are of no interest nor do they donate. Whilst it may be legal to hit them it is immoral and unacceptable behaviour. Perhaps Arnie ought to give up his salary, he can afford it, to help the deficit.

This is just horrific. These people live on little or nothing, and taking a cut with the economy in shambles and everything rising, they will have little to pay for food, medicine, housing, utilities, etc. SO WRONG!!! noted, thanks Tom

Threw away the only Schwartzenneger movie I had in the house. As I've said on another story on Care2 about him and his cuts to the animal shelters. He is really the Terminator!!!

The Forgotten Poor

People who were poor before this recession began - from workers in sweatshops to janitors and maids who work at hotels - have largely been forgotten during this economic downturn, writes Barbara Ehrenreich in a Times Op-Ed piece.

Unfortunately, this recession is making steady employment and decent
housing even harder for them to find, and the media is focusing on how
wealthier Americans are suffering.

Suffering in El Centro: Cigars in Sacramento California's economy is in free fall. This appears to be of little concern to Governor Schwarzenegger, who instead prefers to focus his energy, attention and political capital on the ballooning state budget.

* California's Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger brokered a deal on the state budget yesterday. The agreement avoids broad-based tax increases, and instead, in the midst of the recession, slashes services for the elderly and the poor, including health care access for seniors and children.
