The global food crisis may be out of the headlines for the moment, but for poor children and families, the emergency remains urgent and real. Please co-sponsor the The Roadmap to End Global Hunger and Promote Food Security Act of 2009 (H.R. 2817).

World hunger isn't a matter of supply as much a matter of distribution. People in certain countries are starving, like in Darfur, because the governments of those countries refuse to allow human rights groups access to distribute food and health care, or corrupt government operatives steal the food and supplies for themselves to sell on the black market.

Another serious problem is the global water shortage. You can't grow food or survive without water. The World Bank reports that 80 countries now have water shortages that threaten health and economies while 40 percent of the world — more than 2 billion people — have no access to clean water or sanitation.

Another reason people are starving is the dislocation of people from their homes and villages caused by war. One billion children are affected by war and armed conflict. More than 300 million of these children are under age 5, according to a new report from UNICEF.

Also, there are too many people in the world. Global population numbers are on track to reach 7 billion in 2011, just 12 years after reaching 6 billion in 1999. Virtually all of the growth is in developing countries. And the growth of the world’s youth population (ages 15 to 24) is shifting into the poorest of those countries.

Hungry people will do anything to feed themselves, including poaching animals to eat like gorillas, hippos, buffaloes. antelopes, monkeys and even chimpanzees ("It tastes good, like chicken"). Animals are also poached to get their body parts. Elephants, rhinoceroses and tigers are killed for their tusks, horns, skins and other parts which are sold to traders. This contributes to the extinction of endangered species that is taking place all over the world.

28,000 kids worldwide died of starvation yesterday because WE LET them. We must take responsibility as a people and take action on the hunger issue very soon, we are all one and there is enough for all is the REAL-ization that needs to be made for US to begin sharing. This imbalance does not serve ANY of us. The fact is WE ARE ALL ONE and there really is enough....thx Tom

Lie for the STARVING! I promise, you won't go to HELL!

Pick a place on the US map, find the postal code, and help feed starving people--hey, it can be FUN to do, even! [e.g. those great names of smalll towns out West~~hehe~~'Misery', e.g., hey you can even be from PARIS [Texas]}
Namaste! ~janet sol~~ who actually DOES live a place called 'Ecum Secum'--so, I guarantee there are more believable ones than THAT!!

Starvation is unacceptable in today's world ! There is no reason for children anywhere on this planet to suffer from malnutrition, disease,death!
There is plenty of food available all we need to do is share our resources and wealth. The obvious imbalance is clearly visibly in this horrifying image! As the "Crown of Creation" human beings seem more intent on destruction than evolution. Why is that? When will human beings evolve enough into becoming human beings? The "Age of Aquarius" is done ... where are we now? Surely our consciousness can encompass more than greed!
Pardon me please for taking this time to 'vent' but I know you understand because each one here within our Sacred Circle has evolved into that state of true Being; our collective consciousness shares this Wisdom and our actions testify towards enlightening others. I am so thankful to be Blessed to be in your company as your friend. Thank you Tom for your love Light for all.

I see that a certain troll is ba-ack. That is why we have a 'flag as inappropriate' tag. Use it. Don't otherwise respond to the troll. This troll thing is already off of Care2, with no Profile Page, I see. So just remove this offensive post also.
