Sign Petition: Urge President Obama to Stand Up for Idaho Wolves

Animals  (tags: wolf, idaho, wolves, endangered, slaughter, sadness, suffering, hunters, extinction, environment, animals, animalcruelty, abuse, cruelty, killing, law, wildanimals, wildlife, death, protection )

- 3612 days ago -
In just a few days, Idaho officials have sold more than 4,000 out of 70,000 wolf-killing permits for sale. There are only 1,000 wolves in Idaho. That's 70 hunters per wolf. Please tell President Obama to stop this senseless slaughter before it begins.

I signed yesterday....can someone please explain to me what people have against wolves?? Frankly, I just do not understand. God created these magnificent, furry, beautiful-beyond-belief animals and all Americans want is to wipe their very exsistance off the face of the earth. I just don't get it. Thnx, Tom.

Now over 120,000 signatures! Obviously, people care a lot about this and I pray things change. With the number of wolf-killing permits sold, it's not going to be a surprise if a number of hunters get shot by other kill-happy hunters.

MmAway M (520)
Sunday August 30, 2009, 12:35 pm
Personally, Cheryl...I would hope they put army cover around the wolves and animals, and bright red jackets on these idiot shoot happy hunters.

Rather this Judge still keeps this on hold...We can only pray for this one that it has a good outcome, or it will be a complete madness out there!

Wolves who have babies are not immune and this is just sick to think that they ever allowed this in the first place. I am in total disgust with these stupid people!!!

Chris, please don't steriotype those of us living in America. Not all of us are rednecks. I own a gun for protection from the rednecks and gangs. And not all of us approve of what is happening to the beautiful creatures in our land. I advocate for all animals and the hungry people everywhere on this planet we all call home. We are all of the same. Our factory farms are heart wrenching and clearing of our land for more humans is also inexcusable. They are trying to kill our wild horses too. All to make way for humans - in the long run it will destroy what is left of the land and our horses will be gone, just as the wolves because the "redneck hunters" will kill them too, even if the government opposes. It is happening almost everywhere. No matter where we live, we must take a stand together - no matter where we live. Bless you all for caring.

Teri, green star sent you dear!!! Love your comment...for people that don't know other "Caring People" in the United States it must seem like a Shoot em up town with guns all about.

Totally wrong, we do have really goofed up people living here and living in San Diego I have witnessed much violence...but there is Violence in every other Country!!!

Frankly Chris B, don't know where you live,(well just checked and found out UK), but to make that type of comment is totally upsetting. I personally get up sometimes at 2-3am to try to make a difference for animals, land, etc. maybe not everyone is that way, but to make a "General" comment about people in the United States does upset me to no end.

There are truly caring people out here trying to make a difference, even though they are hurting desperately, Yep, we do have our Bad Seeds, but, frankly, so does your Country, and I would Never make that type of statement to You or the UK...

I have a lot of Friends in the UK and dearly treasure them...Rednecks, Yep there are some around here with their old stills or whatever, but, that doesn't make of the Good Ole United States.

I just have to think that there are more people around the United States actually reporting all of the rotten events that take place instead of putting their heads in the sand and ignoring the bad things that happen, thus you are getting more news from us...

What does that tell me about other Countries???? That they just don't want people to know what is actually happening there, frankly that to me is totally scary, and I too own a GUN and would not hesitate to use it one minute...and I can shoot the tails off of a lizard!!!!

Lets put a few thousand of these in your folks backyard. I live in Idaho and 95% of Idahoans want them gone. We have been shooting them for years here without a season so things wont change regardless of how good you feel when you sign a petition the wolves will still be getting whacked. There are too many regulations and not enough staff to enforce the laws the way it is.

Well I seem to have annoyed the gun toting brigade with my anti gun rhetoric. So I'll repeat myself violence begets violence! arming yourself incase of trouble is the excuse dished out on a daily basis by gang members in inner cities UK or US who carry knives, hammers, guns, baseball bats or whatever for protection. Some apply the same skewed logic to vehicle ownership with increasing proliferation of "Chelsea Tractors" 4x4s appearing in crowded city streets as people feel safer in gas guzzling cars the size of a small truck. And do remember statistically the UK has more cars per capita than the US all crammed into our tiny island that you could tuck in a corner of Texas. The end result of this sort of ligic is every one driving a military tank armed to the teeth and whilst I appreciate the many good and caring people in Canada, US, Spain, Japan or China guns are part of the US written constitution and they are designed with sole purpose of killing so the logic of a caring person owning a gun is lost on me. Therefore to criticise me for making a generalisation about the US which is ensrined in your constitution and then admit to owning a gun for personal protection is a tad hypocritical don't you think. The truth hard though it may be for US citizens to accept is the US has an appalling reputation outside of US and of course I'm not so stupid to think the UK is in any way blame less! For example we followed you into the illegal war in Iraq, We supplied the slaves that gave you your President! The US sponsored terrorism in Northern Ireland for many years. The UK invented concentration camps during the Boer war. We used our one time colonial might to subjucate indigenous populations all over the world. This is continued right now in parts of the US. So I think it would be fair to say none of us are perfect and it would actully be impossible to be the first in the stone throwing crew which Jesus so wonderfully put it by saying let those without sin cast the first stone and I think in that case he was referring to a lady who had been accused of putting it about a bit! None of us or our respective countries are perfect by any stretch of the imagination so please don't criticise me for stating the obvious. The probability is the rednecks were exported from the UK anyway so we must take some of the blame for dumping our garbage in the US but it was a little while ago. Our main concern should be the plight of animals and the vulnerable in general be thay human or animal rights abuses cruelty etc. Here endeth the lesson!

Oops, didn't know I was back in school...UMMMM interesting that somehow we got so far off the main subject, which is animals being shot.

By the way, I do not have a gun for protection but for "Trap" which used to be a hobby and required skill, like sailing, etc...

You are truly correct in the cars, U.S. SHOULD take a lesson from the UK, France and other countries (only have been to those two) and know that the transit system is teriffic! But in 1985 when I was in Paris the gas smell was so over powering there were so many cars crammed in such a small area, they need mass transit - until you get out to the beautiful country.

That was truly making me laugh the fact that "our rednecks in the United States" were probably importated from the UK, actually I think they grew up here on their owned spawned on by Prohibition, but that is just my opinion.

Of course, I joined Care2 and got involved because I wanted to hopefully make a difference on animals lives, the way some of the United States handles food etc.

Don't know how this got so far off track and into this, for me probably was the 100 degree heat, and having over 6 fires out of control here in Southern California.

"Lets put a few thousand of these in your folks backyard."
I'll take them over a few dozen redneck scumbags any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
"I live in Idaho and 95% of Idahoans want them gone."
Yeah. And 95% of Nazis wanted the Jews gone.
"We have been shooting them for years here without a season so things wont change regardless of how good you feel when you sign a petition the wolves will still be getting whacked."
Did you get a great big stiffy typing this Mr. Great Big Zero?
"There are too many regulations and not enough staff to enforce the laws the way it is."
There are too many rednecked sadistic morons (starting with your bloodthirsty governor) and not enough staff to enforce the laws the way it is.

As our wolves are being slaughtered, i'm in tears. The massacre has begun. I not only cry for the wolves, but also myself. Comment: "So I'll repeat myself violence begets violence! " You are so very right. I cry for the wolves because the guns are killing. I cry for myself because I feel I, as a lone woman, never had any protection from the rednecks when they felt the need to have their way with me. Where were the police, my friends, my family, anyone? My lips cried for help and got none. Comment: "whilst I appreciate the many good and caring people in Canada, US, Spain, Japan or China guns are part of the US written constitution and they are designed with sole purpose of killing so the logic of a caring person owning a gun is lost on me. Therefore to criticise me for making a generalisation about the US which is ensrined in your constitution and then admit to owning a gun for personal protection is a tad hypocritical don't you think." I am one that appreciates learning at least 1 lesson per day. I guess today I have learned that I must be a murderer at heart. If I would have had a gun at the time, I would have used it. And wouldn't have felt a bit of guilt. That makes me uncaring and a hypocric. My eyes are still crying but that is o.k. I'm stronger now. I'll keep fighting for the defenseless and I will continue to own my gun for protection. Next time, they won't be so lucky. I only wish the defenseless wolves had guns too.

chris b (2474)
Tuesday September 1, 2009, 11:44 pm
Violence begets violence as can be seen from some of the moronic post that appear. Ban all guns etc and no body would need to own them for personal, protection a simple but I realise impossible situation!

chris b (2474)
Tuesday September 1, 2009, 11:46 pm
It is perhaps ironical that if the wolves where armed the majority of these brave hunters would be donning their brown trousers but I still don't think guns are the answer!

Teri Johnson (21)
Wednesday September 2, 2009, 6:47 am
Very true Chris. Banning guns would stop the killing with guns, but, that is all it would do. People would just find another way to kill the defenseless. It is an impossible situation. Even if guns were banned, the "brave hunters" and gangs would still have them and they would have weapons of any sort that would kill the beautiful creatures just as well. UHHMMM? Maybe we all need to get a baseball bat. That might stop the hunters and gangs.

Teri Johnson (21)

I've learned something else today. I'm not only a murderer and a hipocric, but i'm also a moron. Thanks for being a friend. Can anyone else give me some insight as to what kind of American I am while i'm sitting here crying for the animals?

Gotta stand up for Teri on this heated discussion...

Gangs do have guns, they are always going to get them...What good does a bee-bee gun do to an AKA riffle. No sense to me...frankly, I would really like NO ONE to have any of these guns period!! No one out there shooting people, animals, but this has just become a fact of life, if you want to stick your head in the sand and say "well I don't believe in what is happenening, it isn't happening, you are like the stupid bird that is just going to end up dead"

Sorry this is getting heated, gotta love comments from both of you and have send Chris B stars before, as well as Teri, but on this one, I am truly sad to hear that killing these wolves have actually taken place.

We were here trying to stop it, people were they trying to make it happen and we failed our creatures, that are a family unit.

This is nothing about who is toting a gun, who is mad at each other over some comment, it is ABOUT LIFE, and what we are taking away from the future generations.

I do realize that a lot of you do not want these animals around you, well put up fences, if that doesn't work try something else, but once they are gone, they are gone forever...there is no getting back NOTHING, no cloning will help that.

Just me and my stupid opinion on this one....

Sorry off subject and didn't mean to -- must be the 100 degree heat and all of these fires around me.

Make sure President Obama hears your message! Call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 and deliver this simple message:
“My name is: _____________ and I’m calling from: ________________________ to urge President Obama to restore Endangered Species Act protections for wolves in Idaho and Montana.
Americans have worked too hard to rescue these wolves from the brink of extinction to allow officials in Idaho and Montana to eliminate more than two-thirds of the region's wolves through hunting and other methods.”
