Idiots!!! Remove the bears and the land suffers. There is an entire ecologically circle going on. The bears catching fish, dropping leftovers on the land fertilizes the flora, etc. Saw a great documentary on this. Jerks !!!
But I guess this is par for the course in USA.

It is extreme and unnecessary to kill any animal, but especially when hunted down by air and killed from an aircraft. We've been fighting this horrific practice against wolves for decades; now it seems the "hunters" have extended their murdering tactics to bear. Time to STOP!

The bears are being pushed out of their environment and have a right to live somewhere. Also, shooting from the air is inaccurate and you cannot be sure that the bear is cleanly killed and a wounded bear left to die is cruel and unacceptable.

Noted and signing. Those of you who are against guns, please understand it is not the gun but the person using it. Taking the gun away will not stop their stupid behavior, that is a mental issue. As with anything else, people need to use guns for example respectfully for what they are designed for. Trophy hunting is NOT one of these either. My Dad brought me up to believe in the old ways. You only kill for food if needed not for pleasure. This is an issue all around and needs to be addressed by the government if they ever get the b*lls to do something. Another part of the=destruction of Mother Earth that needs to be stopped. As we are so too are the animals also part of the circle of life and need to be treated as such.
Blessings to all.

I did personally contact the petition author and respectfully request they edit the petition content to provide more background on this issue and related links. I haven't heard back from them.

Alaska's so-called "predator control" program is out of control and completely baseless. Last I heard, scientific input was ignored on the wolf and bear front and that those running "wildlife management" in the state are strongly connected to the hunting lobby in Alaska. Surprise surprise.

In other words, there are plenty more environmental terrorists in Alaska than just Sarah Palin running the show. For more background, please contact Defenders of Wild and the Natural Resource Defense Council.

I only wish more advocates of the Alaskan wildlife protection community would step up and take a stand. They may very well be outnumbered....I'm not sure.....but we can certainly raise the pitch of their voices.

As for signatures, if everyone here who commented forwarded the story to five friends, the petition would make its goal and then some. It takes a few minutes, but the dividends are HUGE. Please pay it forward, share the post, and make this a successful campaign for the beleaguered bears of Alaska.

Blessings to all, Michelle >^..^

We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being. Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic. The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.
'With the Medicine Buddha mantra you can liberate numberless sentient beings from oceans of suffering and bring them to enlightenment.' - Lama Zopa. Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha BeKanze Radza Samudgate Soha
