PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT ON THE TOBA SITE--THEY WILL CONTACT OWNERS: Marvin and Joel Cunningham - TRAINER: Patrick Mouton @ Harrah’s Louisiana Downs- Bossier City, La.

IF WE DON'T DO SOMETHING-THIS BABY WILL MOST LIKELY BE KILLED--HE IS AN "ACCIDENT" CAN NOT BE REGISTERED--WILL NEVER RUN A RACE--THEREFORE "WILL NEVER MAKE THEM ANY $$$$$$$$$$$$$"! BENTON, LA. IS ABOUT 40 MI. FROM WHERE I LIVE--WILL TRY TO FIND OUT WHERE THEY TOOK THE MARE & BABY! IF THE BABY IS STILL ALIVE!

TRAINER (Mouton went on to describe the surprise and displeasure of the owners.)
Tiger Eyed and her foal have been shipped to a local farm near Benton where a surrogate nurse mare will provide nourishment for the newborn.

According to Mouton, plans for Tiger Eyed are to resume training at the racetrack in early September.

I'm on it Brenda--so glad you can submit news stories as I can't since the change on Care2. This would have been too late if you had not been able to get this story out NOW. I will keep up the pressure and crosspost it to my horse group in California.

First of all, no one is saying that the foal is gonna die. The fact that the trainer did not notice that she was pregnant is "unbelievable'.....the owners themselves.....just prove my point ....these horses are used for MONEY and nothing more. Hell, if they bothered to visit the horse in the first place, they would know that she was pregnant. With her age, so young, she probably cannot feed the foal....so they have moved her and the foal to a surrogate mom so that she gets nourishment. That's a GOOD thing. The fact that she recently gave birth and they are planning to "run" her is NOT good. I pray that someone has enough common sense to realize that horses are no different than any other female that has given birth..they need rest. And she needs to be with her foal....unlike others that believe animals don't feel and have no heart.....losing a "baby" is no different than what we ourselves feel when we lose a child in childbirth. Having the life ripped from someone is WRONG! And anyone looking at this picture...that can look me in the face and tell me its OK to take this foal from her mommy is bound for he%%#.....well, you have no heart. If you send emails to the owners with regards to this.....please be polite..........there is nothing worse than having tons of mail sent to you that is hateful when it is not warrented. I can see, so far, that have done nothing other than hire a stupid trainer and be absent owners. This story is not complete and we have no idea what will transpire. I pray that this foal is allowed to remain with her mommy (no matter who fathered her) and that ....for once....the racing industry has a heart.

THE FILLY IS GOING BACK INTO TRAINING FIRST PART OF SEPT. THE SURROGATE MARES ARE USED FOR "HIGH DOLLAR BABIES" SO THE BIRTH MOM CAN GO BACK TO RACING--THEY MAY NOT KILL THIS LITTLE "ACCIDENT" BUT I'M NOT TAKING THAT CHANCE--IF I HEAR THE BABY IS BEING CARED FOR--THEN WONDERFUL-BUT WILL KEEP TRYING TO FIND OUT UNTIL THEN!

I went back and re-read the story that is supplied by the link. My concern is not for the death of the foal as they transferred mare and her foal to a surrogate. My concern is that they have a trainer who is apparently a complete idiot not to realize that a slim streamline horse like a TB is pregnant for god's sake. Ya think a jockey or any rider would have felt a horse kick or realized that something was different. What idiots!!! My foremost concern is the complaint against racehorses being heavily trained and raced at too young an age and in this case in particular. The calcium and mineral loss to this mare from foaling at such a young age makes me concerned for her ability to maintain health during the extensive heavy training and racing that is in her future. I only hope that they reconsider their apparent decision to go back to training in September. That is too much for this mare--she will be another broken down useless racked with pain horse in no time. Another casualty of a cruel industry. But I would be concerned about emailing and calling these people about saving this foal as nowhere does it state that there is any danger of this, if this was the case why would they have shipped the mare and the foal off together.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE ORGINAL STORY..............the foal is with her mommy and the concern should be that she will begin training, once gain, racing so soon. Sending eamils trying to save this foal.....

There are conflicting stories. According to KTBS, Ch. 3 in Shreveport, La, Tiger Eyed and her foal were moved to Benton, La.
"Both horses were brought to a farm in Benton, where Tiger Eyed will have a chance to tend to the filly. She'll return to training once the foal is raised. The newborn will never follow in mom's footsteps. Regulations require a racehorse's paternity to be documented, and trainers have no clue who the father is."
Benton is more than 300 miles from Louisiana Downs, so clearly there would be no contact if she is brought back to the track. Why is this inapropriate?

AGAiN the horse and her foal are not separated. If you look at the original story....you will see that they are together....have been moved so that the foal can be nursed since mom is too young to even be a mom...yet race. PLEASE....read the original story. This baby is not in trouble.

With respect Dusty the foal may not be in danger, but the story did say Tiger Eyed was to resume training in September, which is too soon for such a new and very young Mum. A polite email noting that is not wrong!

According to Mouton, plans for Tiger Eyed are to resume training at the racetrack in early September.

When they use surrogate mothers, I wonder what happens to her foal? Surely the surrogate mother will not accept another baby, from another mare? and of course the surrogate mother had to have a foal, in order to produce milk. so what happens to her own foal? killed? So the surrogate mother can feed this baby? Just crazy! I don't think this racing mare is too young to feed her own baby. She was able to give birth to it, so she must have milk too. But she is definitely too young to race and in no condition to start heavy race training so soon after birth. Common guys this is just plain wrong. Not to mention the physical and emotional hardship that she must feel, if she loses her baby. Does the racing industry have a heart or a conscience at all? And how stupid is this trainer, not even have known that she was pregnant, they must have noticed the bulging belly and other changes? Are they really so ignorant?

Dear Marvin and Joel, the story of Tiger eyed has touched the world. Please reconsider not to take her baby away. If she is old enough to bear the foal, surely she is able to feed it as well! It is heartbreaking, that your trainer did not notice her pregnancy. In fact that is unbelievable! Have you got the right trainer? I am also concerned for the mares emotional well being. Taking her baby away will be cruel and plain wrong. Wrong as well is the fact, that you want to start training her for racing at 2 years old???? Her body is not ready for that! Specially after giving birth at such a young age.

Please reconsider, leave mum and baby together, give her a year to mature and then you will have a good start to training her.

My heart is going out to this mare and her foal. Surely money is not that important that you can look away from her well being and the foals and endangering both their lives and health. I hope, that you

will leave the baby with mum and don't start training her, as every mother knows, you are not at your best after giving birth.

Please do the right thing and show that you have a heart. My heart is breaking at the thought that she will lose her obviously much loved baby. Animals have feelings too, just like you do for your kids! Please reconsider!

Kindly Bea from Australia!

E-MAIL REPLY'S FROM RESCUES I CONTACTED THIS AFTERNOON:

Brenda ~ I don't know anyone who knows the horse racing worldl, but will definitely send your email off to our members and contact lists. Hopefully, there will be someone out there who knows........ Personally, I can't stand racing since I did volunteer work for a Equine/Wildlife Veterinarian years ago. I learned then that over 80% of the babies (1-year olds when they start training) are slaughtered by 2 years of age because of injuries. They're bones haven't even been properly joined at that age. And, recently, I learned of the buyers that are behind the race tracks after races, who are just waiting for colts/fillies that didn't do well on the track, to wisk them off to auctions to be send to slaughter..............Sorry, my opinion, and I apologize........just been horses being slaughtered for reasons that could be stopped. Thanks for your caring, Bonnie

THIS IS VERY GOOD NEWS IF I CAN FIND WHICH FARM THEY WERE TAKEN TO IN BENTON: E-MAIL REPLY:

Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 8:09 PM

They are getting a nursemare for the baby unfortunately that measn another baby will lose its' Mom because of irresponsible humans. We are more than happy to take the baby and raise her as an orhphan foal if it is needed. Please let me know. You do not have to wait to ask IF she could come here the answer is yes.

Jen

AND THIS BABY "IS IN DANGER" HE CAN'T BE REGISTERED AND CAN NEVER RACE--FOR A SURROGATE MARE, THEY HAVE TO GET RID OF HER BABY TO PUT THIS ONE ON HER AND THEY NOT GOING TO DO THAT FOR A LITTLE "ACCIDENT" THAT IS WORTHLESS TO THE OWNERS!

I'm so thrilled that we are all finally connected to change this world and take back our values on a global scale. The more we connect to each other, with as many contacts, the better.
FYI: The BLM horse issue needs all of us to contact those in gov't and that issue from the Cloud Foundation is on this site. Please do your part on that one too? Thanks, Roger Rankin, US Ambassador, World Animal Day

my comment:
Dear Sirs,
I'm writing in concern of Tiger Eyed's little foal. Please Please give him a chance. Do not put him down just because he was not "planned", give him a chance to get a happy life, even if not in the race industry I am sure there's place for him, be it at a kids horse riding centre , to be trained as a horse for pet therapy for authistic children or even just as a pet. If I lived in the US I would get him myself.
I have been doing horse riding for about a decade and speak from the heart. I always loved horses, all my life long, and while it is understandable that some horses and some breeds are more apt for racing than others, it is not understandable and unacceptable that a little foal has to be put down because he was not "planned". Please have a heart. Abortion is bad enough - here the baby is born and alive, please give him a chance and don't kill a child. For he is a child, even if of a different species. Show your true love for horses and give him a chance.

Thanks from the heart for your time.

Kind regards,
Alice Olivo

Let's hope something gets moving and the baby gets saved...
