Very Interesting post about aliens my Beloved Marta. I liked to read much about this. Noted and Thank You so much for sharing with Us.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYBODY!

Contact with humans hasn't been so great for humanity either.

An undeniable truth, Bill. We are a selfish, cruel and destructive species.

Very wise advice by Hawking

Certainly one can see Hawking's point about a more technologically-advanced society not necessarily being kind to our own - but given our promiscuous spreading of our TV and radio broadcasts throughout the cosmos, it seems unlikely that our looking for aliens will effect whether or not they find us. Better to be forewarned, it seems to me.

I don't fear aliens, and in my humble opinion, we don't need another fear tactic from "science" to prompt more funding for such a fear. noted and thank you.

I don't fear ALIENS ;o) we have enough HUMANS on MOTHER EARTH to be AFRAID OF......AMEN ;o)

Yeah the whole human thing hasn't worked out too well. Everyone is too willing to kill each other over any perceived differences.

I don't think I believe I in aliens -since to see is to believe.
And sadly there's too much going on in this earth that gives me more fear.
But this one's ok. Peace :)

Noted ..If the aliens come will they treat us like we treat mother earth and all other creatures that roam over her?

Hawking certainly makes a valid point, assuming that aliens would be as greedy and self-serving as we humans can be. In any case, even if we did manage to communicate with aliens, actual physical contact would still be highly unlikely due to the vast distances between stars. I don't think we have much to worry about.

Who says an advanced alien race would be like us? Seems to me that humanity is slowly evolving for the better. Perhaps an advanced alien race would be quite benevolent. Question is whether such beings would want to contact a backward world such as ours?

We deserve whatever we get. But, perhaps by the time we are discovered, we will have matured to something beyond adolescence as a species. Here's hoping.

Still about ten years ago, scientists claimed aliens didn't exist.

Hawking is not the first scientist to say that aliens might very well exist in our immense universe. Arthur C. Clarke and Carl Sagan dedicated part of their life in search for extraterrestrial intelligence. However, none of them ever said we should fear them. But if aliens are like humans, we should fear them for sure.

Very interesting, Aliens are just as scared of us as we are of them. Fear itself causes
the 'feeling of need to protect and strike' to defend ourselves.
this Article is noted, and thanks for sharing, Marta. :-)

I view aliens with a great curiousity; always have. I think they would be a higher evolved life form than man is and more intelligent and compassionate than we as a race are. They would view the planet Earth with great sorrow to see and know how mankind has destroyed this precious gift we've been given... Fear is the opposite of love; not hate.

Next we will be hearing about the need for a massive military build-uo to prepare for an alien invasion.

Maybe the sophisticated and hyper-technological aliens do not have latency problems.

As aliens have advanced technology, they're simply not that stupid. We'd kill them. Yesterday a mate came over and said he'd seen a UFO and greatful he had his mate with him and his neighbour also saw it. A red light slowly passing the Sunshine Coast Airport then changed direction and took off faster.

Gees, is there anything we should not be afraid of? Not suprising all this voodoo comes from scientists who only survive through tax payer monies huh?

Mark Quire (68)
Monday April 26, 2010, 5:32 pm
Stephen Hawkins has finally gone off the deep end since anybody that has studied UFOs knows that they (UFOS) have been here at least since recorded history began and if whoever they are wanted to hurt us they would have done it a long long time ago

Michael Cozens (3)

Sue W. - what is with your animosity towards science and scientists? Oh, no, they're getting tax dollars to expand our public pool of knowledge!! That money should be going to buy unnecessary weapons systems and bail out Wall Street banks!

If there are aliens either from space or parallel universe and they have found us, I'm sure they think of us as children and feel they have to wait for us to grow up before revealing themselves.

or worse yet, what if we discover alien life and they turn out to be militantly, evangelically religious in whatever belief system they have on their planet?

Stephen Hawking: We Should Fear Aliens - Interesting post but the fact Christoph Columbus never reached the mainland of America so could not be responsible for the treatment of the Indians. (according to history)

Bill K (3)
Tuesday April 27, 2010, 9:25 pm
Columbus may not have reached the American mainland but he did reach the islands and the Indians there he enslaved. He sent some to Europe where they died of the cold so he put the rest to work mining gold. If they didn't reach their quota he cut off their hands as an example to the others. He tortured escaped slaves by various means including letting dogs rip them to pieces, burning, and hanging. This began the practice by which European explorers treated the native peoples of this continent for the next several centuries.

By the way, the people Columbus met, the Arawaks, before being enslaved generously greeted Columbus and his men with open arms and food. They all but died off within decades of that meeting. Columbus excelled at three things - navigation, his devout Christian faith, and genocide.

Aliens are not likely to look just like us so why would they act jusy like us and not respect life and nature!

Steven Hawking has this whole thing overblown; there's nothing to worry about with aliens:

If they land in Arizona, the authorities will just deport them when they can't produce documentation of citizenship!
