I found out about this plea in April and since then I have held it very close to my heart.

I visited The Horse Refuge for the first time on Thursday 26th August and found Sara in such a state, because she had pinned all of her hopes on someone who had told her they were buying the land for her to use, only to find out that it had all been a hoax.

If that wasn’t bad enough, she had to go to court yesterday and was given 28 days to remove herself and the 96 animals which still remain from the premises.

We have not given up, if Sara manages to raise the money to buy the land or the land is bought by someone who will let her continue saving these animals the eviction wont take place.

Please do what you can, pass this around to all of your friends, write to newspapers asking them to start a campaign, if you have any celebrity contacts, get them involved, or if you have a spare £600,000 burning a hole in your pocket and would like to become a land owner, get in touch!

I have stroked some of the horses who are going to be killed in the next few weeks if Sara has to move, it broke my heart.

Please read my sharebook for the full story.

And here is The Horse Refuge stie

DEAR Alison, this was forwarded to me by Deborah S...she knows how much I adore horses...

Sadly right now I am sobbing!!! Gotta sign off, what is wrong with our System??? UMMM Personally, I think that we are lacking in the LOBBIST for Animal Rights.

If I could I would drive a semi up there and take these special creatures to a safe wishing I was well off...should of caught me when I was married 25 years ago, my Ex would of had to pay for it...and it would of been gladly done (since I was so sweet to him then)...

This is SO SAD, my only good thing right now is that my abused rescue is snoring peacefully as I am typing...since she is sleeping so peacefull, she can't see my falling tears!

This hurts! What other options did Judge Linda Burguess have? I am so sorry! The horses look beautiful; they have life in them. Do they do the same when a family cannot afford the rent? Just get rid of the young children and great-grand-parents because they cannot provide for themselves?

Greedy landowner wanting to sell the land presumably for development! If the eviction is carried out surely some of the many horse, farm animal and donkey sanctuaries could step in to take the horses even if only temporarily!
Even if these cannot cope with such a large group of horses I'm sure they would welcome donations for the stirling work they do for many animals!

Thank you everyone for your comments and I sorry to have made you cry Marilyn, but the truth is even if you were able to take these horses, you couldn't because having a home to go to isn't the problem.

I don't know much about horses but Sara has explained to me why they cannot be re-homed, most (if not all) of these horses have been so badly abused in the past that they have been left with extreme trauma, the horses which will perish have been re-homed in the past, but they were returned to Sara due to becoming vicious and unpredictable or so stressed and upset that their health deteriorated.

Other horses have medical conditions like arthritis and have been deemed not strong enough to travel in a horse box and even if they did make the journey, the future implications would be too traumatic, I suppose it is the same as when Nursing homes are sold and all the residents have to move, some don't survive because it is too distressing for them.

Thank you for the links Chris, I will pass them to Sara but as you can see, it has been deemed kinder to destroy these horses than to re-home them, which is so sad because I have seen these horses and they appear fine to me, they are happy as they are, but have no idea of their fate, I just wish I could explain to them that they have to learn to adapt or they will die! So heartbreaking.

So yes, we need a miracle, I have been writing to newspapers trying to see if one of them will start a campaign, it is a long shot, but I have to try. I have written to celebrities to see if they will put their hand in their pockets, but nothing.

If anyone can think of how to raise the money in three weeks, I will be happy to hear from you!

I meant to say, in regards to the landlord, Sara has said that he has been ever so nice and is upset about asking her to leave, it appears that his mother died and I am not sure if it is to do with Inheritance Tax or something, but he either has to sell the land or his own home, so unfortunately the land loses.

So really if anyone is to blame it is the damn government for making people pay tax time and time again on property and assets which have already been taxed.

Read & noted, with sadness, for the horses depending on human love & care, & for the owners giving up everything to rescue & save them!! I have to agree with other comments on the fact that all those "animal loving" celebrities could have EASILY raised enough money among themselves to save this sanctuary. For those of us less able to help, knowing that makes me ill!

THis is so sad. Many horses can be brought back if given proper treatment. I can hardly stand to think these beautiful animals are treated so awful.

Alison A (244)
Monday August 30, 2010, 12:03 am
Just to clarify Penelope, these horses were given proper treatment and HAVE been brought back, most of Sara's horses were deemed too ill to treat, but Sara refused to give up on them and now they have a wonderful life at The Horse Refuge, but it is because of the awful way they were treated BEFORE they got to Sara, which has left them mentally scared and that is why they have not been able to adjust when they were re-homed.

Thank you to everyone who has commented, I would love everyone to donate, but if you can't then the suggestions to post it on every social networking site is fantastic, please don't click away just because you can't give money, your support and dedication to spread the word is just as important! These horses can't do this without you!

I know that many people are annoyed at the amount of support, but lack of money from these celebrities, but the way I see it is it is now up to us, I told my mum yesterday, you can be angry at these people as much as you want, but discussing how mean they are is not going to save these horses.

If anyone wants to write to the people who have pledged their support, Simon Cowell, Leona Lewis, Katie Price or anyone else, please do, I have, I only ask you to be pleasant, as they say "you can catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar".

Sara actually has one of the horses which Linda McCartney rescued many years ago, but Paul has shown little interest in the Refuge and in England, you don't get much bigger than a Beetle!

I will definitely keep you all updated with what is happening.

Hi Deborah

Thank you for the info, but that didn't look like a British phone no. so I looked up Blue Sky Rescue and found one in Oregon, is this the one you mean? Because these horses are in Kent, England.
