Not surprising! Hospitals employ dieticians, not nutritionists.....and they certainly are ignoring Hippocrates quote... "Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food." Dark times all around.

I am not surprised. The "culture of eating" in the UK is very unhealthy. Not only in the UK, but in the rest of Europe as well. I experienced it on my own body, so to speak.

Here in Israel, processed food and meat is quite expensive. On the other hand, freish fruit and vegetables from the markets, is cheap and delicious. So I eat naturally, never have to see a doctor and am in top-shap without having to make an effort.

I was in Holland for a year. I really enjoyed the fries, processed food, cheeses, abundence of un-healthy meat. Within 7 months, I had gained 14 kg. This has never happened before.
The weight gain remained until I came back to Israel - without dieting, or making an effort, back to the fruit and vegetables, and within 4 months I was back to my usual self. Lost the 14 kg without an effort.

Next time I go to Euope or N. America, I will not be so excited with the abundance of cheap food....

although some pateints under NHS care would have conditions that make their nutrition difficlut to control these numbers would indicate something is very wrong. Having experienced hospital food it is unfortunately not surprising
