How the Government Shutdown Affects Animals

The government shutdown doesn't only affect the American people, but also the nation's animals. Take a look at how the government's failure to pass a spending plan will change the daily routines of animals in zoos, parks and wildlife refuges.

The animals are still being cared for and that is what matters most. The government shutdown is a scare tactic, nothing more.

Animals are cared for, SNAP is funded for a year...what about WIC?? of course, in some states, it's the women and children that will suffer - again.

Where's the petition to stop Congress people's salaries, paid by the taxpayers - All of those who voted for this shutdown????

This is so horrible 4 the innocent animals...but maybe it could be good news 4 the wolves. Don't think they and a few others can be delisted now--not sure??

Elizabeth and others that all agree thankfully animals are being cared for - I hope for real everywhere. If this is a scare tactic as one person commented and might be,It's selfish ,disgusting and I could on and on. I don't want people in power r control that can do this. This is serious. If affects so much in the world . I can't stand politics because It's all greed ,selfishness and a show of control, if you ask me.
terribly sad and pathetic they can even live with themselves.

TY for posting Sue!

The animals need to have the cameras on so we can make sure they are being cared for properly. The innocent, defenseless animals are always the ones harmed and they can not fight back and if they do the are killed for being dangerous, instead of standing up for their rights and proper treatment.

PETA is asking all animals lovers to please take a moment tomorrow in silence for all the animals that have given their lives for schools, labs, hunting, food and clothing and entertainment. Thank you.

How can such deplorable conditions be allowed to exist. It sickens me that animals are treated like this and that those responsible can live with themselves.

Noted - Why not make an exception for these cases where animals lives and health are at stake. Or at least ensure suitable alternative arrangements are made for their welfare by responsible animal caring organisations or charities etc. Otherwise is the US Govt not acting criminally and being guilty of deliberate animal abuse?

Noted, tweeted, shared, tweeted, shared. Particularly sad that humans and animals are at the mercy of politicians who don't give a tinker's damn about any of us. As far as I am concerned anyone who is trying to use major crisis to get what the want politically should be voted out of office; the same way I am going to vote anyone who voted against gun control out of office or at least I am going to try.
